Modification
Mod's
relocate relays in red circle to the far left side of the left hinge
to make room for the master harness plug on 84 models only. In the second pic you see the relocated relays on the right fender well.
cut the thermostat housing off at the red line and save it for later.
as you can see here the thermostat housing is welded to the stock Caddy water outlet as in pic 2
Remove the fuel lines (A). The 5/16 line cut here (B) . cut 3/8 line here (C). Remove the clamp here (D).attach new ends to the lines where they are cut so they look like this (E).
cut the right hinge off at the red line and discard the lower section
remove heat shield to remove the master harness plug for relocation
remount the master plug in the location as seem in photos 84 only
As you can see here the Caddy 4.X series engines have the same bell housing as the Fiero engines.
This is the old exhaust outlet that needs to be blocked off with a piece of 1/4 inch plate a gasket and two bolts.
The new exhaust out let is located in the cross over as see here. Just two inches from the left side exhaust outlet on the left bank.
As you can see here the water pump inlet is in the same position as the water inlet on the Fiero and the heater return hose is all so in the right place to (see 90 degree looped pipe that is the heater return line ,you remove the loop and discard it and connect the return there)
This is what the harness looks like when it is removed from the Donor car.
For those who are using the standard trans axle
this is how your modified flywheel should look after being plugged and redrilled and bushed to fit the caddy crank shaft the plugs must be press fit in the old holes and the same with the bushing in the center.
idler bracket used to replace the air pump as in the foto
This is the optional idler pulley you can use in place of the stock caddy one it is from a 93 GMC van no AC
in these pics you can see how the mounts are attached to the motor and where the AC bracket is
over the forward mount.
For those who do not want to spend the high dollar on the 119m mini starter you can clearance the bell housing to clear the stock Caddy starter without any adverse effects as to its strength I have done so on many without breakage .
As you can see here the AC is mounted ontop of the
provided mount as here in Randys pic with no clearance problems
