I'm not afraid of his hatchet!

This is the starting of the season to give thanks for our union with our families . The pilgrams came across many years ago to settle our land and they broke thanksgiving bread with the indians thus giving thanks for the friendship that would transpire in the years to come.

The Pilgrims and the Indians shared the 1st thanksgiving many years ago.The Pilgrims did have a feast in 1621, after their first harvest, and it is this feast which people often refer to as "The First Thanksgiving". This feast was never repeated, though, so it can't be called the beginning of a tradition, nor was it termed by the colonists or "Pilgrims" a Thanksgiving Feast. In fact, to these devoutly religious people, a day of thanksgiving was a day of prayer and fasting, and would have been held any time that they felt an extra day of thanks was called for. Nevertheless, the 1621 feast has become a model that we think of for our own Thanksgiving celebration and we do know something of the truth about it. This first feast was held on June 29, 1621. Since this time we have had different dates for Thanksgiving, but now the fourth Thursday of November of each year has been set aside as Thanksgiving in the United States. Other countries do have days of Thanks at different times of the year.

Thanksgiving is a time of family.....
a time of sharing.....
a time of giving thanks!
