Robby Krieger studied with Sitarist Ravi Shankar. This influence can be heard in Indian riffs in songs like: "The End", "Spanish Caravan" and others. He also uses a lot of blues riffs as The Doors covered many songs from old blues artists. Robby was also a key-songwriter for the band. He penned the hits "Light My Fire" and "Touch Me". He also sang the "square dance part" on "Runnin' Blues". Krieger became involved in the band after Ray Manzarek's brother quit. Robby Krieger's favorite solo is the one from "When the Music's Over" according to an interview in Guitar.
