Full Name: Raymond Daniel Manzarek
Born: February 12, 1939 (Chicago, Illinois)
Primary Role(s): Organist/Bass organ/Keyboards/Backup vocals

Ray Manzarek, founder of The Doors, is perhaps the musical genius that mixed the members' talents together. One of The Doors' trademarks was the unique bass-playing of Manzarek on the organ...while playing lead/rhythm at the same time! During "The Doors: Live in Europe" documentary, Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane) comments on the infamous Amsterdam show when Jim had passed out prior to The Doors' set. Manzarek then played his bass organ, his lead organ, and sang "without missing a beat". While, this concert may have been a wake-up call for Morrison, it proved that Manzarek was a man of extreme talent; something Doors' fans had known for a long time.
