The Fry's take their rigs into the Halloween parade and "WIN!" The rigs were a huge success. We had our campaign banners on the side to announce Paul running for Borough Council. The rigs looked great if I may say so myself! After the parade we brought the trucks home because we had to get all the decorations off the rigs so the guys could head out on the road by 10:00 p.m.. Believe me it all came of much easier than it went on. We had over 12 hours invested decorating the two rigs and it only took one hour to remove it all. I told Paul in July we were going to have to do something really big to get the message out there that he was running for Council. I told him we're going in the parade! yes, he thought I was nuts (and I am "smile") ... I told him the parade is one week before the election. We have to do something really big to help these people know who you are. We have to make sure they remember you when they get to the polls. It has to be big! We stocked up on 90 lbs. of chocolate candy. Beats the old smarty candies, pop corn balls, and bubble gum. The chocolate was a big hit! Wasn't just the kids yelling "Candy" ... the adults were coming up to the trucks begging for candy to *LOL*!
Rolling up to the judges stand they played Convoy! It was so cool. People were applauding the big rigs and everyone was in awe that we were able to make the back look so COOOOOOLLLLL! People were singing convoy, swaying and clapping their hearts out. We've been battling this community for years to keep our rigs in town. So far we've been successful at winning the battles. We've tried to explain to the towns people our trucks are more then just equipment. They are our pride and joy. We love our rigs. We've explained to them time and time again that these rigs cost more then their homes. We did get some attention at the last town meeting when we explained how much fuel cost and how much we spend on fuel each week. That was an eye opener for many. They complain about $500 a month. Try that in a day for each truck. I'll share all that another time. We got their attention and now they know we take pride in our rigs and we love to show them off! ANYWAY .... we won! We got their attention! They now know who Paul is come election time! We won all the way around. I'll let you know if he wins the seat. In some ways we have our doubts that he will because there's to much happening and too much swaying of votes out here. My hope is the Chocolate out did anything they can do to each other to get the votes! Kids love us! While we were taking the decorations off the trucks people were driving up by the house blowing their horns, giving us thumbs up, telling us great job! For that reason I really do believe we were successful at what I set out to do! Below are the pictures of us decorating the rigs ... and the finish product during the parade! The first picture is of hubby's campaign buttons I had made up for him to pass out and announce his running ..... "Go Paul!" |
