Understanding People in Fourwheelers ... What's Safe about???

My Comments & Questions for Four Wheeler's
(People In Cars) And Other's...

Come on up here and sit in the driver's seat. See it from the angle we see it all! And I do mean all! The ladies, the men (cough/choke). You can't believe what type of people hang out there on the roads and at the truck stops? It is not a pretty site at all.

People in four wheeler's (cars) these are the people complaining the most about trucker's. I have heard them. Before I go any farther let me be clear that I am not putting everyone in a four wheeler in the same category. There are a good many drivers of four wheeler's who are courteous and respectful ... They wait to see what the big truck is going to do. They allow the big truck to finish backing into places, or allow them to pull out of places. They don't follow to closely, they don't hug our bumpers when we are sitting on a hill at a red light or stop sign. They flash their lights to allow us to back into the drive lane. There really are many, many friendly and courteous people out there ... but there are many more who are not and they are the ones I hope to get the attention of.

Ha! My own family member's complain about trucker's even though their brother-in-law and son-in-law drive truck. They don't want to hear their mistakes from someone who knows. They have their minds made up no matter what... it's the trucker's fault.

My father has his faults... he's a slow poke... try to get him to do the speed limit... just try. It won't happen. I can not stand to follow him any where or even ride in the car with him. I understand safe driving, but not when all the traffic around you is maintaining the same speed. If he's afraid then he really should not be out there. Sorry dad, but that's how I feel. You've got to go with the flow..... *smile*.....

I rode with my sister one day to go to the other side of town. She don't like to go through town because of all the red - lights. She takes the by-pass to get around. She is a hazard on the road, and I was surprised at her lack of consideration for her passengers and the trucks she was passing. She's zipping down the road zip ... zip ... windows down, hair just blowing in the wind, radio full blast and she's jumping right in front of trucks. I was a wreck. She's complaining ... saying look at that guy he won't even back off it for me. Hell no he won't you just jumped smack in front of him so where did he have time to react to what you just did? Oh come on ... he had to know I was going to come back in that lane to go around this guy in front of me. It was an awful experience. This was my own sister doing this. Had he hit her, who were they going to listen to? Not the driver. The last color she will see one day will be a red-light!

My girlfriend ... riding with me in the car ... 1986. We're cruising down the Interstate, C.B. is quiet and she was bored. She gets up on her knees and starts flashing driver's. Radio wasn't quiet anymore. There I am trying to keep these guys off my tail because she's teasing them and promising things I wanted to be no part of. I jumped her butt when we were stopped. Even told her if she's riding back home with me she best behave! If she can't behave then she can get a ride with one of those guys she was teasing. I was ashamed to call her friend at that moment. And I really didn't want to give her a ride home. But I did.

Cars coming down a ramp ... they are a pain in the ass! They seldom look out their windows to see what's coming and they maintain a speed that is hazardous to everyone who is flowing on the highway. They come down that ramp never looking out the window or mirror and think their going to mozzie their way right in front of that truck. They get mad when the guy lays on the horn to let em' know he's there and they seldom if ever let off the gas or step on it. Their nuts! No the truck driver can not move into the other lane because there's either another car or truck on his side. Besides are you aware that at a certain truck driving schools even if the truck had moved over for the approaching vehicle he would have gotten points against him/her ... because in truck driving school they tell you that is an illegal pass. But if you hit em' you were wrong anyway's ... You can't win in this business. So if you are coming down the ramp do us a favor either step on it or slow down until we go by!

Many times four wheelers are far worse than any truck on the highway. The party in the car calls it safe when they are traveling a two lane highway at 55 m.p.h. and they decide OH! this is where I need to/ want to turn! So they whip into your turn ... with no signal, no warning, no nothing.

They call it safe when they are sitting in a drive-way, side street, parking lot in their four wheeler waiting to get into traffic and it never fails they wait until a truck is on-top of them and then they come on out? This is safe driving? It's happened more than I care to remember to us. We'll be cruising down the road, see a car at an intersection, sits there for a little bit ... we think their going to wait until we go by and don't that jerk just pull right out in front of us? Happens A LOT!

Have your vehicle under control at all times... well officer that's a little hard to do when they chose to pull out in front of us a cars length away and I'm going 55 m.p.h. Another peeve is when they are in such a hurry to get out there and then they drive 23 - 30 m.p.h. COME ON GIVE US A BREAK! .... and so so many times their only going down the road one - three streets/blocks ... now you tell me what was so important that they couldn't wait a few more minutes for us to go by?

I recall a few year's back a story written about truck driver's. It made me so mad. It said, Trucker's think they own the highway. That is not true. Trucker's try their hardest to avoid all the stupid stuff four wheeler's do out there ... sometimes they avoid it, and sometimes they don't. People in cars need to use their heads when they are out there. These rig's don't, can't and never will be able to stop on a dime. That isn't going to happen. You respect them and they'll respect you.

Take a ride one time. If you know a friend, a relative or anyone with a rig, take a ride. See for yourself what it's like up there. As I said earlier ... the world and people look so much different from this level. And I can promise you, you will see things that will remind you of yourself. You'll be saying ... man I do that. Driver's manuals need a special section about truck's.

Newspaper editors/reporters and television reporters need to go out there for a while and see what's happening. I get a little tired of only one side of the story being told. People in cars need to be taught about Big Truck's in driver's education classes and hand books. It would make a world of difference on the highway's. It's a nasty game they sometimes play with the big guys out there. The driver does not always have the chance to prevent as the law says that he/she should. Get these people inside four-wheeler's to use their heads. All people worry about is who's going to get killed in a car by a big rig. Who's worrying about the driver in the big rig who will be killed because of a car's stupid stunt?

On the highway's ... if rudeness be the law, then the four wheeler's have it hands down.

The Ladies and the Men

I will make this part brief and short. I don't want to go into great detail about this topic here. But these little gals and housewives out there are so entertaining. Now why don't they take that entertainment to some place safe. Don't they realize that driving down an interstate at 65-70 miles per hour is no place to be showing what you wish other's to see? This is extremely dangerous. While he's looking at you and you are looking at him, are either of you watching where your vehicals are? Oh don't worry ... the men don't get off any easier because men are just as bad. There are not many people I know who volunteer to drive on the passenger side of an 18 wheeler, but if a man sees a pretty lady in the passenger seat of an 18 wheeler, believe me he goes through a lot of trouble to get up there an entertain her as well.

What is wrong with you people who do this? If I want your attention I'll hang a red light on the truck that says show me. This is just a perfect example of what people's impression of the truck driver is. These guys are driving down the road minding their own business and these are the kinds of people we have to deal with. Then you are the same people who go home acting prim and proper and crying because this trucker went over the line while looking at you. Crying I just had an awful experience. That puts one more trucker on the enemy list.

The gals in the truck stops. I can't even call them ladies. No no don't get too upset with me .. you would be amazed at what some of these gals look like that climb on our trucks and ask us "what our pleasure is?" Happened one night to us in Erie, Pa. My husband had gone inside the truck stop to get us some coffee and this gal jumps up on our truck and says ... Hey babe ... what's your pleasure? I was across that dog box and out that window faster than a flash of lightening. I'm yelling I'll tell you what my pleasure is! Those guys in the truck stop started cheering me on, blowing their horns telling me to go get her. Guess with that kind of rooting section that tells these gals ... not all guys are interested in what you have to offer. We'll hang a note on the truck door if we want you ok? Leave our men alone!

You gals need to get your heads on straight. Most the guys on the roads these days are not alone. They take their wives, girlfriends and even their children. Their not alone anymore don't that tell you that their families are important to them? I highly recommend before you jump on a truck or approach a driver ... that you investigate who they are with. MINE isn't interested! Why should he pay for something he can get free at home? DAH!...

So many people are under the impression that the driver goes looking for this. Believe me the driver does not have to leave his truck ... it comes to him. People are always harassing this man. They see him as a walking dollar sign and nothing is farther from the truth.

The truck driver pulls into a truck stop to lay down and rest and let me tell you there is no such thing as rest in a truck stop ... he no sooner lays down and someone knocks on the door ... he has to get out of the bunk to roll down the window and there's a guy/gal asking ...
1. What's your pleasure?
2. Do you need a lumper?
3. Would you like your rims polished? I'll do the bumper for extra.
4. Are you going south? Can I get a ride?

They are just a few examples. This man just wanted to go to sleep and everybody in their brotherhood has to knock on the door. What is this?! Leave the man alone! Let him sleep! He'll come to you if he's interested in any of the services you have to offer. You need money? Get a real job! My husband and these driver's have real jobs and every cent they make goes home to their families. Get a job! You wanna lump a truck? You wanna polish rims? Get a truck driving job! There's lots of driver's schools out there who will teach you. Then you can lump and polish until your heart is content ... and make money doing it too.

Why? Oh Why? Do You?

Drive real slow until we try to pass you and then you step on the gas and make us race to get past you, or you cause us to fall back in behind you and then you slow down again?

Why? Do you drive with one foot under your butt and the left foot on the dash while your car is in cruise control? Are you going to be able to react quickly enough when something happens beside you or ahead of you?

Why? Do you come racing up beside us and then slow down just hanging there not going any place? Either pass us or get behind us.

Why? am I driving 65 and you come up and pass me, then you slow down to 55-60? This is very dangerous for both of us.

Why? Don't you look in your rear view mirror to see if you have successfully passed us before you shoot in front of us? Is it that you like living life on the edge? Well maybe you do, but I don't!

Why? When you come down the ramp don't you look out your window or mirror to see what is in that lane before you proceed into traffic?

These are just a few of my why's? Do you have some of your own you'd like to ask and share? Send em' my way! I'll post them.
