Trucker's Wives are Hero's and Strong Women

My bio and who I am is towards the bottom

What is a Truckers Wife? She is a strong lady who carries a lot on her shoulders. She's a lady of all trades ... cook/baker, dish washer, cleaning lady, doctor, nurse, teacher, machanic, plumber, cheerleader, book-keeper, accountant, budgeting director, finance consultant, phone operator, taxi, fisherman, car repairman/woman, coach, playmate, friend, single parent many times, interior decorator, recreational director, craftsman, landscaping and lawn mowing service, entertainer for parties and dinners etc., makes sure all those special occas. are remembered, grocery shopper, hair stylist, story teller, loan officer (for the kiddies when they want this or that), counselor for children and family, clothing designer, painter, hiker, camper, farmer, veterinarian, parts runner, pool cleaner, presser of clothing, seamtress, and the list goes on and on ....

I realize a lot of wives have some of this responsibility, but a truckers wife does this any where from one day to months alone by herself (as do Military wives and husbands). Some have no neighbors, no family or anyone close by to turn to. The finances sometimes (almost always) require us to do these things on our own because we can not afford to call for outside help. Chances are even if we could afford it we live where there is no one close enough to come out and do a serive call and if they can it's usually days before they could get to us. Or there is no such services available. We depend on our knowledge or by trying and hoping that it all works out for the best. We depend on books to walk us through the repairs and maintance. But there isn't much that we can't do and haven't done.

The Truckers Wife is a hero all by herself. The one person in the world that seldom if ever gets spoken of. The one person you don't read about in magazines, books and newspapers. We read about single parents and others making it on their own, but we never hear about this one lady who never finds a seconds time for herself. She seldoms goes out dancing or to dinner. She runs all errands and does all that needs done. There should be a "Trucker's Wives Appreciation Day"...

Something about me ...

My name is Brigette Lorraine Baker Fry. That's pronounced (Bridget). I was born Feburary 19th ? (some things just can't be let out of the bag *smile*). born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. I am the daughter of William Dunlap Baker (who is the son of Pastor Ernest Elwood Baker and Kathryn Elizabeth Schoffstall Baker). My mother is Kay L. (Lynn) Baker (daughter of Lee Russell Lynn and Nellie Mae Saunder, Lynn). Lee was the son of Merrill Yoder and Ethel Mae (Marshall) Lynn. Nellie was the daughter of Henry and Ella (VanValkenburg) Saunders. My dad and mom were both born In Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, also. I am the oldest of five children. Dad and mom have four daughters, and one son. (Memorial to my mom on index page. Mom lost her battle to cancer on May 26th, 2005).

Lewis F. Confair Jr., is who mom was married to when she passed away, he was raised in Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Mom and Lew were married in Nov. 1995.

I am the mother of three wonderful son's. I've been married to (Paul) who is and has been driving truck for 38 years. We just celebrated 25 years of marriage in June. And they have not all been perfect by no means. Yep... 25 years. I hear that's a pretty darn good record for a trucker and his wife. Don't know if it's true or not ... just hear say. We are known on the C.B. as Frynpan (him) and Little Skillet or Internet Sassy (me).

I love being on the road when I get a chance. Which isn't often with three children. Usually the summer months while the kiddo's are on vacation is when I get to see the country side. If I had my way I'd give up my house and live on the road. I'm just not into being harrassed by heartless creditor's. We do the best we can and sometimes your best just isn't good enough. Then again I never was one to be sitting in one place, but hey! I've been doing pretty good so far.

I use to be my hubby's co-driver, book-keeper, dispatcher and record keeper when we owned our own trucks. I rode with him everywhere and I know as much about the trucking industry as truck driver's do. I wasn't always a susie homemaker . We use to own our own trucks (three of them), but went under because of bad driver's. Believe me it can kill you when you hire certin driver's who don't know the first thing about maintence and up keep. And when it's not their own money being spent they have no problem at all spending it for you. Due to their neglect our credit was shot in the butt and we could never build it up to go back into it again. I'd much rather own my own truck than work for someone anymore, but that dream is history and won't happen. I have been a truck stop waitress, and a fuel cashier. I think and feel I know this industry from pretty much all angles.

I like to write Poetry, reading good books (genealogy, history, suspense, and thrillers are my favorite). I don't like spookies ... if I watch a spooky I won't sleep for days, because I'm so sure I hear noises and all. So don't give me a spooky, even of mild tone.

I love making new friends! I love music of all types (pretty much the 50's and up and country music). I love the sound of rain on the roof or drain spouts and a good hard thunder storm. I love storms! The ocean is my all time favorite place to be, and I love it even better when there is a storm brewing and the winds are blowing hard. My computer is about the best thing that's ever happened to me next to my family.

Okay about my kiddo's... I'm the mother of honor students... excellent athletes... both are very Athletic, they are involved in football, baseball, bowling, basketball. Got their names and pictures in the local newspapers a few times too. And don't tell me your kid beat up my honor roll student cause there is no way that they did *smile*... My 16 year old is 6'2" tall and weighs 210, he wears a size 14 1/2 shoe. My middle son is 15 and he's 6' 1" tall and weighs 197, wears a size 12 1/2 shoe. Then there's my little guy... who started school September of this year. I was a blubbering fool when he went to school. I cried some, fixed my hair, I cried some more until mom called, I cried some more and wrote some friends, I cried some more and he was home. I think it was the worst day of my life to be honest. He's my buddy and I just wasn't ready to let the last one go yet. All my boys are my biddy. We're best friends. We are all very close.

Of everything I do and love the most in my life, I have to say it's being a mother and a part of everything my boys do. Being there for them "ALL" the time.

I am a stay at home mom. Have been now for 16 years. My time is pretty much consumed with Nathan, Curtis and Joseph. Next is my campaign to get the truth out to the public about trucks and truck drivers and put an end to a lot of the false stories, untruths, and fears being fed to the public. My genealogy and my homepages are other joys that I have.

I have this new addiction to HISTORY since I began genealogy. This was one of my worst subjects in school. Probably because I didn't like my teachers very much. They were too serious, and no fun at all. I'm sure all my History teachers would be proud of me now.

The pleasure for me having the webpage is all the wonderful people who contact me for help, guidance, and information, html help and all the "GREAT!" friends I've made over the years. I love being there for people no matter how large or small their problems might be. It pleases me if I can help them in the smallest ways and hear their cheers for joy in each letter I receive back when they have succeeded. I enjoy helping each and everyone of you who come to me.

Welp there ya go.... all there is to know about me.... well not all, but more than you probably wanted to know anyway's about me :-) ....
