1956
|
I have no memory of my birth, but as my parents told me, it must have been in April of 1956, that is more than
44 years ago. This was in the middle of the so called golden Fifties, unfortunately not for those people who
had to live in the countries of Eastern Europe.
For example the Hungarian people (at this time) dreamed of more freedom and democratic changes in the political
life and started to demonstrate on streets, but very fast they had to recognize that they had lost their national independence as a result of the World War II. The Big Brother at the east, the Russian communists, showed them where the king lived and never they would allow them to choose an own way of social development.

But I was a young baby, didn`t know nothing about such bad things and enjoyed only the full love I`ve got
from my lovely parents. I did grow up in an impressive landscape in the low highlands of Saxony in the very south of East Germany. So I believe in my childhood I got my first deep relations to the genuine nature of rocks, canyons, forests, meadows a.s.o. Surely in this field we have the main difference in infancy between kids of my time and today. I remember very good on my first 5 years old girlfriend, some wonderful things to eat, some impressions in the house of my grandmother and some parts of the old hometown where for example the footways consisted of special granit stone material.

1965
|
After my parents had changed several times their place of residence in 1965 they bought a nice old house
with a big garden in Gera, a town also in the south of East Germany, 70 km away from Leipzig. Here I spent the main time of puberty and adolescence with all that troubles of first love, political awakening, separations from the parents and so one. In summary we can`t say that in socialist country it was a lost time. Surely indeed we lived with many restrictions and difficulties, but our life during that time was also dedicated to many interesting experiences, big events and last but not least, to lots of adventures and fun.

1974
|
In 1974 I abandoned my artistical ambition and I started my study of electronical and biomedical
engineering at the technical university of Ilmenau. I don`t know whether it is generally valid, but this time of study, I would say, belongs to the most interesting period of life because this freedom, autonomy and independence you will never find later in a normal life. In Ilmenau I made a lot of new friends which were strictly selected according to their political opinions which played an important role for us at this time. Today more than 25 years later we still have deep connections among each other and we regularly meet once a year
(see those guys on my study friends site).

After finishing study I got my first job in a big hospital in Gera (my hometown) amongst the environment
of most young, sometimes very beautiful nurses. The residential home of most of those girls was just some steps away from the hospital and logically I used to spend some nights there. It was the greatest and craziest sexual time I ever had and you can understand that today I feel like a hermit in comparison to that times.

1982
|
But in 1982 my professional ambitions moved me to a medical institute of heart diseases research in the
academy of science in East Berlin. This town was a great place of culture, different arts and many music performances. Here I retrieved my disposition to the occupation with art in active and passive forms, especially in photography where I found a crazy guy with an unbelievable equipment in that East Germany. Using a panorama camera for incredible phantastic pictures and a lot of slides we organize a special show with different themes (nature, nudes, life, towns) for work force celebrations. One of the most spectacular performances was our collaberation with actors and composers of modern music: a composition of new electronical music, surrealistic paintings presented with serveral slide projectors and modulations of human speech, which became a really great success.
In the eighties I used my better financial situation for many travels (one of my favour hobbies)
to the eastern countries, for example to Czechoslovacia, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, and Russia, mostly to have longer breathtaking trips over the highest mountains there. I also learned climbing in the so called saxon switzerland and I reached seven levels in the severity list.

1985
|
In 1985 in my institute I was excluded from the graduating as a Phd-student because I refused to carry
weapons during the army drill. I was lucky that these were the only directly troubles
with those departments after my long fighting against the commission in the
socialist army. During my travels through many towns of East Germany I saw
the increasing decay of the system as well as in the society and also town
buildings. After the hungarians had opened their borderlines to Austria in
1989 logically I used this first possibility to leave my home country to the western part
of Germany.
During this period the escape from a socialist country had still to be planed
very carefully and I was more afraid of to harm my family which I had to leave
behind than me.

1989
|
Since August 1989 I`ve been living in Hamburg, one of the most beautiful big towns
in Germany. I used and use the big possibilities in that town for a new part of my life.
So I met new friends and discovered new abilities and interests
of myself, I can`t mention all here. In my profession I started to work in the biggest atomic research institute
of Germany, so called DESY, where
I have to manage some special engineering tasks. But indeed, in the first years,
I dealt more with the past and I`ve read, like a starved wolf,
a lot of very interesting books
about details of communist crime allover the world, especially about
the communist revolution and the following civil war in Russia,
about the millions of innocent people there who where killed or
died of hunger and chilliness in Soviet Gulags, about typical
appearances and degenerations of socialist societies. My life in the East Germany is not to compare
with those crimes but at least it was also a result
of developements in the first part of our century, but we got fortune and we were able
to alive the first peaceful revolution in Germany and Eastern Europe in 1989 with the fall
of the iron wall. Only that people could understand that feeling in those days
who also could imagine the anxieties, this stupid uniformity,
provincialism, hypocrisy and self deception in a system of dictatorship.
Well, so never I will forget my first trip to a western country, to Paris,
this old beautiful town, where very early in the moorning I sat
on staircase of the Sacre-Caeur with having a nice
overview over the old roofs and a very sentimental feeling in my heart. This was the beginning
of many travels to very interesting countries in the nineties and
a lot of dreams of my youth became true.
