The Beginning

November 1973: Randy Poffo had his first match against Paul Christy.

1974: Randy Poffo began wrestling in the Georgia and Florida areas occasionally competing under a mask as "The Spider".

1976: Randy Poffo and Lanny Poffo defeated The Hells Angels to win the Gulf Coast Tag Team Championship.

January 3, 1978: Defeated Don Kent in Birmingham, Alabama to win the NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Championship.

March 26, 1978: Lost the NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Championship to Dutch Mantell in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

November 11, 1978: Defeated Dutch Mantell in Nashville, Tennessee to win his second NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Championship.

February 1979: Lost the NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Championship to Bobby Eaton.

International Championship Wrestling

Ole Anderson once commented on how Randy wrestled like a savage, that prompted him to change his name to Randy Savage.

1978: Randy's father Angelo Poffo began his own wrestling promotion, called International Championship Wrestling (ICW).

March 13, 1979: Defeated Lanny Poffo in Halifax, Nova Scotia to become the second ICW World Heavyweight Champion.

July 21, 1979: Lost the ICW World Heavyweight Championship to Lanny Poffo in Lexington, Kentucky.

1981: Defeated Lanny Poffo to win his second ICW World Heavyweight Championship.  Poffo regained the title later in the year.

1982: Defeated Lanny Poffo to win his third and final ICW World Heavyweight Championship.

November 26, 1983: Lost the ICW World Heavyweight Championship to Paul Christy in Springfield, Illinois.

December 26, 1983: Defeated Terry Taylor to win his third and final NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Championship in Memphis, Tennessee after leaving ICW.

AWA Memphis & Jerry Lawler

1983: NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Champion Randy Savage signed with the Memphis-based AWA, which was one of ICW's competitors.  Angelo Poffo and Lanny Poffo later joined Memphis when ICW folded.

April 12, 1984: Lost the NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Championship to Jerry Lawler in Lexington, Kentucky.

April 23, 1984: Defeated Austin Idol in Memphis, Tennessee to win the CWA International Heavyweight Championship.

May 1984: Lost the CWA International Heavyweight Championship to Austin Idol in Memphis, Tennessee.

September 15, 1984: Defeated Pedro Morales to win the WWC North American Heavyweight Championship in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Back in the AWA, Randy Savage and Lanny Poffo fueded with the Rock 'n Roll Express.

Randy Savage would briefly become a member of Gary Hart's first family, and received shots at AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Jerry Lawler.

March 2, 1985: Lost the WWC North American Heavyweight Championship to Hercules Ayala in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

March 17, 1985: Defeated Jerry Lawler in Memphis, Tennessee to win the AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship.  Randy Savage then delivered a piledriver to Jerry Lawler on a metal plate, putting him in the hospital.  This would begin one of the bloodiest feuds in Memphis history.

May 7, 1985: Lost the AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship to Jerry Oske in Louisville, Kentucky.

May 13, 1985: Defeated Jerry Oske in Memphis, Tennessee to regain the AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship.

June 3, 1985: Lost the AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship to Jerry Lawler in Memphis, Tennessee.

Randy Savage lost a bloody Loser Leaves Town Match to Jerry Lawler, and was forced to leave Memphis for at least one year.


World Wrestling Federation

1985: Randy Savage entered the WWF and became the target of several managers hoping to sign him.  Randy Savage would turn down Mr. Fuji, Jimmy Hart & Bobby Heenan before before aligning himself with Miss Elizabeth.  Savage also adopts the nickname "Macho Man".

November 7, 1985: Randy Savage made it to the finals of the WWF's "Wrestling Classic" tournament before losing to The Junkyard Dog.

February 8, 1986: Defeated Tito Santana to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship in Boston, Massachusetts.

Randy Savage challenged Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship in matches all over the world.

November 1986: Seriously injures Ricky Steamboat after coming off of the top rope with the ring bell onto Steamboat's throat.  Steamboat returned to kindle a bloody feud between the two.

March 29, 1987: Lost the WWF Intercontinental Championship to Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania III in Pontiac, Michigan.

The Mega Powers

Randy Savage turned face soon after, and challenged The Honky Tonk Man for The Intercontinental Championship.  Savage delivered his flying elbow finisher to the champion, when The Hart Foundation ran down to stop the finish.  The Honky Tonk Man, Bret Hart, and Jim Neidhart proceeded to attack Savage, and the Hart's held Savage in place while Honky prepared to strike him with his guitar.  Miss Elizabeth tried to intervene, but was shoved down by Honky and left for the locker room.  Honky smashed the guitar over Savage's head, when suddenly from the back came Miss Elizabeth along with Hulk Hogan.  Hogan charged to the ring and along with Savage, sent Honky and the Hart's fleeing.  Savage then extended his hand to his former rival, and Hogan accepted.

March 27, 1988: Defeated Ted DiBiase in the finals of a sixteen men tournament to win the WWF World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania IV in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

November 24, 1988: The Mega Powers were the sole survivors in their match against Ted DiBiase's team at Survivor Series.  Tension began to form between the Mega Powers, when Hogan took Miss Elizabeth on as his manager.

January 15, 1989:  Hulk Hogan accidentally eliminated Savage from the Royal Rumble, prompting a verbal altercation between the two.  Eventually, Miss Elizabeth ran down and saved the two from coming to blows.

February 3, 1989: The Mega Powers defeated the Twin Towers on The Main Event.  During this match, Savage was thrown from the ring by Akeem and fell onto Miss Elizabeth, rendering her unconscious.  Hogan rushed to her side and carried her back to recieve medical attention, leaving Savage to battle their opponents alone.  Hogan eventually returned to the ring to re-join Savage, but as Hulk reached for a tag, he was slapped by Savage.  Savage then grabbed his WWF title belt and left Hogan to fend for himself, eventually picking up the win.  After the match, the Mega Powers got into a verbal altercation in the back at Elizabeth's bedside.  Savage accused Hogan of lusting for Elizabeth.  Hogan turned to check on Elizabeth and Savage nailed him in the head with his WWF belt.  Hulk's longtime friend Brutus Beefcake attempted to come to Hogan's aid, and was also beaten up by Savage.

April 2, 1989: Lost the WWF World Heavyweight Championship to Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania V in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  Miss Elizabeth chose to take a neutral corner for this match, ultimately putting an end to her alliance with Savage.


Battling Hulkamania

Randy Savage aquired the services of Sensational Sherri as his new manager.


Savage brought in Zeus, who had starred in the movie "No Holds Barred" with Hogan.

August 28, 1989: Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake defeated Savage and Zeus at SummerSlam to put an end to the feud.

The Macho King

Randy Savage turned his sights to "King" Jim Duggan and the crown of the WWF.  Savage defeated Jim Duggan to become the new "King" with the help of Sensational Sherri and then adopted the nickname "Macho King".

April 1, 1990:  Savage and Sensational Sherri were defeated by Dusty Rhodes & Sapphire in the WWF's first intergender match at WrestleMania VI.

January 19, 1991: Savage attacked WWF World Heavyweight Champion The Ultimate Warrior during The Warrior's title defense against Sgt. Slaughter at Royal Rumble, causing The Warrior to lose the title.

March 23, 1991: Loses a Retirement Match to The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VII.  After the match, Sensational Sherri attacked Savage in disgust.  Miss Elizabeth, in attendance, attacked Sherri and reunited with Savage.


"Retirement"

Began doing commentary on the WWF Superstars television program.

Randy Savage proposed on live television to Miss Elizabeth, who accepted with an emotional "Oooh, yeah!".

August 26, 1991: Randy & Elizabeth were "married" in the middle of the ring in what was called "A Match Made in Heaven".  During their reception, they were presented with a gift box from Jake Roberts.  When they newlyweds opened the box, they were horrified to find a King Cobra waiting inside. 

A few weeks later, Savage was attacked by Jake Roberts, and tied up in the ropes.
Roberts then allowed his cobra snake to bite Randy Savage's bicep. 

Randy began to campaign to WWF President Jack Tunney to reinstate him as a wrestler so that he could do battle with Jake Roberts.  Jack Tunney eventually agreed.


Out of Retirement

December 3, 1991: Defeated Jake Roberts at The Tuesday In Texas.  After the match, Roberts gave Randy his DDT finisher several times.  Miss Elizabeth entered the ring and begged Roberts to leave Savage alone, prompting Roberts to strike her in the face.  Savage & Roberts engaged in a feud that saw them do battle across the country.

February 8, 1992: Defeated Jake Roberts on Saturday Night's Main Event to put an end to the feud.


Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair

WWF World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair began making claims that he was having an affair with Miss Elizabeth.

April 5, 1992: Defeated Ric Flair to win the WWF World Heavyweight Championship for the second time at WrestleMania VIII in Indianapolis, Indiana.

September 1, 1992: Lost the WWF World Heavyweight Championship to Ric Flair in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

October 11, 1993: Defeated Jerry Lawler to win the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship in Memphis, Tennessee.

November 20, 1993: Savage is forced to vacate the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship after the USWA and WWF temporarily ended their co-promotion.


End of an Era

1994: Randy Savage appeared occasionally in Jim Cornette's Smoky Mountain Wrestling (SMW) promotion.

Fall 1994: Randy Savage's WWF contract expires and Savage departs the federation after 9 years.

World Championship Wrestling

Signed with World Championship Wrestling (WCW), joining Hulk Hogan in a feud with the The Dungeon Of Doom.

November 26, 1995: Last eliminated The One Man Gang in a 60-man three ring battle royal to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at World War 3 in Norfolk, Virginia. 

December 27, 1995: Lost the WCW World Heavyweight Championship to Ric Flair at Starrcade in Nashville, Tennessee after Arn Anderson interfered.

January 22, 1996: Defeated Ric Flair to win his second WCW World Heavyweight Championship on Nitro in Las Vegas, NV.

February 11, 1996: Lost the WCW World Heavyweight Championship to Ric Flair in a Steel Cage Match at SuperBrawl VI in St. Petersburg, Florida.

February 23, 1997: Joins the nWo.

April 19, 1998: Defeated Sting to win his third WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Spring Stampede in Denver, Colorado after Kevin Nash interfered.

April 20, 1998: Lost the WCW World Heavyweight Championship to Hulk Hogan on Nitro in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Randy Savage took a hiatus from the company, only to return with a new look, a new attitude. Savage also brought with him a new manager, his then 22 year old girlfriend, Gorgeous George.

July 11, 1999: Defeated Kevin Nash to win his fourth and final WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Bash At The Beach in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  The match pitted Savage and Sid Vicious against Sting and Nash, with the winner of the fall winning the title.

July 12, 1999: Lost the WCW World Heavyweight Championship to Hulk Hogan on Nitro in Jacksonville, Florida.

1999: Savage's WCW contract expired, and he wasn't re-signed.


Life After Wrestling

Played Bonesaw McGraw in Sam Raimi's 2002 release of Spider-Man.
