World Wrestling Federation

1983: Orndorff signed with the WWF and aligned himself with Roddy Piper as a heel.

In early 1984, Orndorff had a few unsuccessful title shots against World Champion Hulk Hogan and Intercontinental Champion Tito Santana.  In 1985, Orndorff began a sudden face turn after losing the fall in a six-man tag match at WrestleMania I.  Orndorff later joined forced with Hulk Hogan to feud with Roddy Piper and Bob Orton, turning on him shortly thereafter to join The Heenan Family.

Paul then began another feud with Hulk Hogan, stealing his entrance music, and nearly winning Hogan's World Title on several occasions.  In one of the most popular steel cage matches of all time, Hogan and Orndorff both reached the floor at the same time.  Referee Joey Morella declared Hogan the winner, while referee Danny Davis declared Orndorff the winner.  The match was restarted and Hogan retained the title.

Shortly thereafter, Orndorff fired Bobby Heenan and took on Oliver Humperdink as his new manager.  Paul stayed at mid-card status for some time until finally leaving the WWF.  He stayed away from the wrestling world for a while, running a bowling alley near Atlanta, Georgia despite rumors that he had passed away.

1992: Smokey Mountain Wrestling opened and held a tournament for its Heavyweight Championship.  Orndorff was invited as an alternate, insulting him enough to wreak havoc on the promotion.  Paul eventually made it to the finals of the tournament, losing to Brian Lee by disqualification.  He was eventually ousted from SMW after Piledriving a referee.

World Championship Wrestling

1993: Paul Orndorff appeared in WCW as the protégé of Harley Race.  Orndorff began a feud with Cactus Jack that ended at SuperBrawl III in a falls count anywhere match.  Cactus Jack won the match, using a snow shovel to flatten Orndorff.

Pretty Wonderful split up shortly after losing the WCW World Tag Team Championship, leaving Orndorff in mid-card matches again.  After being beaten repeatedly, Orndorff was visited by Gary Spivey of The Psychic Network and filled his head with positive encouragement.  The "Mr. Wonderful" gimmick returned exaggerated more than ever, leading Orndorff to carry a mirror with him at all times to admire himself.

August 29, 1995: Paul Orndorff and Big Van Vader were involved in a backstage altercation that ultimately led to Vader's dismissal from WCW.

2000: The "Powers That Be" (Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff) announced that Orndorff must come out of retirement to wrestle a handicap match against Creative Control.  This led to several in-ring appearances leading up to his final one, a tag team match pitting himself and The Filthy Animals against The Natural Born Thrillers.  At the end of the match, Orndorff delivered a piledriver to one of the Thrillers and suffered a temporary nerve injury ("stinger").
