pm: Deftones frontman Chino Moreno
apparently had quite a time at this past Saturday, June 30th's Waldrock
Festival in Bergum, Holland. The bands headlining set was shortly delayed
and when the group finally did take to the stage, band frontman Chino
Moreno is said to have been extremely disoriented, having trouble even
standing. It has now been said that he was originally backstage getting his
finger, which he recently broke, bandaged and was roughed up by security who
didn't know who he was and after an altercation, he allegedly suffered a
concussion. Angered by this and suffering from the injury, he spent some
time singing while laying on the ground, and later on, took off all clothing
from the waist down, tucked his penis in-between his legs and proceeded to
make crude comments towards the females in the audience. By this time, the
crowd had allegedly begun to become fed up with the vocalists antics and
began to throw objects at him. After a few more songs, the band decided to
quit and left the stage altogether. A statement on the matter was recently
posted by band DJ, Frank Delgado on the Deftones official
website messageboard, here,
it is as follows:
"there was alot of him bashing the crowd but i think it was probally
due to the fact that festival security beat him up right before we were to
go on. chino went to get his finger bandage for showtime at the first aid
tent. around that time someone had jump a fence into the festival. when
chino was done being bandage he was running back to the dressing room.
security thought he was the person they got the call about and basically
gave it to him good. we went on late cause we had to bring him to. we played
short cause of the festival curfew. we are not happy the way this festival
dealt with the situation."
Meanwhile, aside from the mishaps, the set also featured a guest appearance
from Suicidal Tendencies frontman, Mike Muir, on a cover of
the Suicidal Tendencies track, "Subliminal".
9:30 pm: Slipknot percussionist, Shawn Crahan is strongly rumored to have had an altercation with security backstage at the recent Somerset Ozzfest show. It seems that he was driving a golf cart around unmasked in the backstage area and headed into an "unauthorized" area, which caused a security guard to jump him and clothesline him off the cart. Angered by this, Shawn punched the offending guard and was subsequently subdued by two more guards who quickly arrived, using pepper spray. He was then taken into custody and released shortly after, when security realized who he was, and went on to play on stage later that day. Slipknot's new album, "IOWA" is currently set for an August 21st release through Roadrunner.
9:30 pm: finger eleven now plan to launch their recently postponed, "A Big Noise" tour in September. However, it is currently unknown who will be included on the bill when it kicks off. Currently, the band are on the road for a short stint of Canadian dates before heading back to the rehearsal space to continue writing material for their forthcoming new album, which they plan to begin recording late this year.
