Tux Racer, a 3D racing game by Sunspire Studios, lets you control the belly-sliding Linux Penguin down treacherous snow-covered mountains. This game provides lots of entertainment in a relatively small download, with challenging courses, great graphics, and fun music. You may choose to practice a particular course or enter multiple cups to race your way to the title. Advancing to the next course of a cup is no easy challenge, though. Not only do you have to cross the finish line in a certain amount of time, but you have to collect a certain number of fish lying around the course as well. If you get tired of racing on the courses that come with the game, you can create your own using any simple paint program. However, the game is a little sluggish if you only have the bare requirements. Another drawback: graphics tweaking or button reassignments must be changed manually in a configuration file. We would also have liked to see an in-game options menu.

If conventional Chess is getting you down, AntiChess may be just what you need. Despite its small size, this freeware suicide Chess program is surprisingly full-featured and plays a mean game. You can load and save games, get hints, take back moves, watch an autoplay mode, and choose from three levels of difficulty. Try to lose just your king or every single piece.
