All of the material on the cd has been lifted from a television recording made in 1983 for the 'In Session' series.  The idea for these Canadian made programmes was to bring together musicians who, in terms of style, were coming from the same place.

The pairing of Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan seems an obvious inclusion into this series bearing in mind the influence of the former on the latter.

Although Albert King is clearly in the driving seat throughout this recording, Stevie Ray Vaughan's guitar parts still add to the overall content in a way only he could manage.

Most of the songs on the cd are taken from Albert King's stage set at that time which probably explains his apparent dominance throughout the proceedings.

The only deviation from Albert's set is the inclusion of Stevie Ray's 'Pride & Joy' which, in my opinion, seems to be at odds with the rest of the cd.

That said, the guitar playing throughout the whole of the cd is nothing less than you would expect from these two masters of the art.  'Blues At Sunrise' is a stand alone classic which epitomises high energy blues guitar.  At a little over fifteen minutes long, this track is guaranteed to blow your mind.  Flick from this to, 'Call It Stormy Monday', and you will be completely hooked.  That's not to say the rest of the cd isn't very good.  It's just that these two tracks are outstanding.  Try it for yourself and let us know what you think.

If you're into Albert King or Stevie Ray Vaughan then this is a 'must' for your collection.  If you're not then take the chance anyway because it's brilliant.

Shortly after I bought this cd I loaned it to a friend.  After three months I eventually managed to prise it off him, that's how good it is.
