Banner Alert: There have been at least 6 trains bannered at the
entrance to Pape Junction. The speed limit in Pape is 10
mph, but at that speed, you'll slide right by a banner. Be
careful. One solution at Pape is to put the brake on
approaching the junction and stop on the switch,
every time. It eliminates a lot of unnecessary panic,
and if a banner happens to be there you can just
smile and wave. That tends to piss some people off.
When you swap out on the passenger main, there a
pretty good chance of being bannered by the signal.
Each official is being required to make 9 banner checks
per month. If your operating at restricted speed, expect
a banner. Be alert. Remember, they think they are sneaky.
But they're not. Some of them are just assholes. Expect
plenty of checks in and around the yard. Laziness is part
of human nature. They can banner you in the yard and be
back in their air conditioned office in 5 minutes.
