We have to quit tearing stuff up.  Rule Violation Derailments (RVDs) are looked at daily and tracked monthly and yearly. We told the Carrier that we can reduce RVDs. Once we can show that we have played an integral part in reducing RVDs, we are going after an additional $1400 or so increase in your monthly retirement benefit.  How does $6000 sound for your pension?  That is in addition to your 401K. That's part of negotiations. Pretty cool, huh?
That's the difference between the BLET and UTU on the NS. We know how to get our members what they deserve. The UTU doesn't have a clue.

Reason number 5 why the BLET on Norfolk Southern is going to pursue a Representation Election is  so that we can get our conductors and brakemen that same boost for their retirement that we are going to get for our engineers.
