Owen Marsh is a stuck up jerk. He's good looking, he knows it and he thinks he's better than anyone else. The man is brilliant and does know his science very well, but he flipped out when he met Frink years back in elementary school. The thought that there might actually be someone out there whom was just as good or even better than him drove him insane. Because of this he hated Frink and everything he was or did. From the moment they met, he became Frink's rival in the sciences and for Caroline's love. She had two princes to choose from. Owen is not like other nerds in the fact that he's cocky and good looking and aware of it. He recieved his doctorate in physics and engineering but prefers to be called by his first name or his first name and his title ; Dr. Owen. Owen is obsessive, explosive and short tempered. It is rare when he can control his anger and at times it even scares him.

Author's Comments

This is the character that I know everyone will grow to loath, but I LOVE Owen. He's such a fun character to work with. I usually prefer the calm, cool, sophisticated, aristocratic villian. Think Jafar if you will. To use someone like Owen in my story was new to me since he's so tempermental, yet he's still smart and that makes him dangerous. He is my own creation and one of the few that I am proud of. I've had him for several years and been dying to use him in a real story like this. I drew Owen up back around 1996-7. He was part of a comic book I had made for my Godzilla site, and his role was the same there. He was the bad guy, scientist with the bad temper. My predrawings and original drawings are completly different from what he's become now. See for youself. These will probably make no sense since you have no clue what this comic was about. Also my art was really bad back then. I couldn't draw people, actually I still can't. Trust me monsters are MUCH easier.

Pretty bad huh? But I love his expression in the last frame. This is where Owen originated from. He was fun in that story and he's been lot of fun in this one.

This is a clip from the techno song The Point. This is the EXACT voice that I imagine Owen having...it IS Owen. If anyone knows what this clip is from please let me know.

I'd been thinking about him recently (recently being the last three months of 2002) and was dying to use him in a story again. When I started getting ideas for Innocence Lost I hadn't even thought about using him and designed Mr. Thanatos first. I realized Thanatos was TOO scary to be Frink's direct rival, and the thought hit me to Simpsonize Owen. Boom! I think I had the perfect villian and rival for poor Frinky after that. I came up with the his name by combining the names of two scientists I admire. First is Richard Owen, the man who coined the term dinosaur or more specifically Dinosauria. The last name came from Othaneil Charles Marsh. Marsh had a rival named Edward Drinker Cope and the two are known for thier bone wars in the badlands of the American west. They would litterally have cowboys with them and shoot it out for the best dig sites. Cope was the better scientist, more thorugh, but Marsh gathered more dinosaurs. So I ended up naming him Owen Marsh. It's funny that Owen has the same rivalry with Frink that Cope and Marsh had so many years back.
