Sub-Zero
Sub-Zero is a member of the Lin Kuei. The Lin Kuei are a group of assassins who use the elements as their weapons. For example, Sub-Zero uses ice, Smoke used smoke, and Hydro used water. Even though the Lin Kuei dress like ninjas, they are not ninjas. I will skip the whole Takeda story and the Scorpion story since you can go over to Scorpion's page to read them. One day the Lin Kuei decided to start automating it’s members. Automation would remove their souls making them kill without remorse, which would make them deadlier assassins. Two members of the Lin Kuei (Sector and Cyrax) volunteered to go first. Then Sub-Zero and his best friend, Smoke, were selected to go next. They ran away to keep from being automated and Smoke was captured. He was automated and the three prototype assassins were sent on a mission to kill Sub-Zero. Then all of the Lin Kuei’s souls were stolen by Shang Tsung, during Shao Kahn’s invasion of Earth before they could be automated. Sector, Cyrax, and Smoke were saved since they didn’t have souls anymore. Later Sector was destroyed by Reptile and Sub-Zero had to destroy Smoke. Cyrax regained his soul with the help of the Earth Special Forces and joined the good guys. Sub-Zero was free from the constant danger of death so he reformed the Lin Kuei and took over the position of grandmaster.
