HISTORY (1971-75)
Time is the origin. When it moves into a certain degree, it takes a change. This change significance
age which involves a period of time that would form a dispensation.
Promised Land
The advent of the people to the island of Dinagat made a little sitio
of Puyange (now San Jose) as the cradle of the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries Association, Inc. San Jose became
the most adored place ever-known by those who have experienced the healing capability in the history of the Association.
Visiting people would have heartfully named this place as the "gateway to the promised land".
Place of Refuge
On October 19, 1965 the date when the association was founded, annual
general conference were held during the Holy Week at San Jose. To allow the member-students who wish to attend
the general conference, the schedule was reset to other time in May, yearly. Also, the traveling condition by sea
is good in this period.
Due to the uncontrolled inflow of the association's devotees, sanitation
on the place was overlooked. Attending people to the general conferences had suffered gastro-intestinal problems
and typhoid fever. There was a time that San Jose was stricken by a life-grabbing epidemic which is medically known
as Cholera-El Tor. There were many victims succumbed to death and buried them day after day. Married males could
no longer attend to those who would have been died and sent to the final rest-the graveyard. Because they were
compelled to look for food to sustain their daily needs, the unmarried youth members were tasked to do such charitable
works.
The Birth of the Organization
Time came, the youth of San Jose was organized during the impromptu
program called for the purpose by the late Supreme President and Founder of the Philippine Benevolent Missionaries
Association, Inc. Held at the PBMA Main Office on February 13, 1971, Saturday night, where the people living at
the nearby houses were unexpectedly gathered together to attend the impromptu program conducted by the late Divine
Master Ruben E. Ecleo, Sr. Who also acted as the Master of Ceremony or M.C. Vocal renditions were offered by among
the young ones to make the program joyfully done. It was interrupted momentarily due to the solicitations of the
probable names from the officers and non-officers of the association to be given for the youth organization to
be created.
Chosen Name of the Organization
Few of the suggested names were the following: San Josenian, Youth
Movement, suggested by "Ate" Josephine F. Buray (now known as "Ate" Josie F. Misagal) the former
PBMA General Secretary; San Josenian Youth Organization, suggested by brother Juan S. Digal Jr.; PBMA Youth Club,
suggested by brother Eddie Loca; and a lot more. Spiritual members of the Four Corners of the World in the name
of Capt. Caple Jurry came in and said, "Time has come that the PBMA youth must be organized to be derived
from the four directions of the world, to mention, the youth from the North, the youth from the East; the youth
from the west; and the youth from the South. All of which shall come together to do something good and help the
mother association in general" It was followed by Dr. Hugh Tovar and said "the youth is the hope
of the nation and it is the backbone of the association's activities." Gen. Lolo Adriano dela Concepcion
was the third one who said, "the children are the little stars, the inspiration of the spirits, and the
hopes of the motherland."
Organizational Pioneers
Brother Juan S. Digal, Jr. Had been tasked to organize and led the
NEWS YOUTH ORGANIZATION and the late Divine Master Ruben E. Ecleo, Sr. was considered as the Brain of the Organization.
