TB-83

The true Brian May treble booster

The first thing you can think when you first see this pedal is WOW how solid it is!
Made with the all best available materials, this is not simply a pedal, but it's a definitive must-have for all the Brian May fans.
Cased in a die-cast rugged metal case, the TB-83 it's the "First Queen" of treble boosts and is a re-issue of the original early 70's design by Pete Cornish.
But why does this pedal is it called TB-83?
Because it was used by Brian until 1983.
As a matter of fact in 1984 Pete designed an upgraded version of the TB-83 which incorporates Line Drivers and a Level Control. The TB-PLUS was born.
But what does the TB-83 rule was?
It was designed to be the interface between Brian's Old Lady and the "Normal" input on the Vox AC-30 amplifer.
In the very early Queen days Brian used a Dallas Rangemaster which was used for the first two albums: Queen and Queen 2, and that was lost by a Roadie after a gig.
Having the same functions as the treble booster(i.e. to increase the signal going into the amplifer), it had a more "aggressive sound".
In fact you can easily listen to the sound difference between the first two Queen albums and the following ones.
Todaythe Dallas Rangemasters are unfindable or they're very exphensive. This because it was a pedal using the Germanium transistor which is no long more produced.
There are alot of Rangemasters claiming to be really near to the original ones, but they're only cheats.
The TB-83 is instead a genuine and professional pedal and you can never go wrong if you only think that it is the same used by Brian in his setup.
It is not-footswitchable and it always remains in line between your guitar and the amplifer.
It uses a 9v battery whith a very long life (about 500 hours).
The battery is switched on when you insert the "INPUT/PWR ON" jack, and to ensure long battery life, unplug this lead when the unit is not in use.
Mr. Pete Cornish has built effects for many great musicians such as: Paul McCarthney, David Gilmour, Eric Clapton; Sting, Metallica, and many others.
Let me say that no one of the current products distortion/overdrive pedals will never give you the sound of a TB-83!
Remember that each unit is hand-built, wired and tested by Pete and his wife Lynda.
Keep well in mind that, if for you music is more than a way to pass the time , and you really want to obtain the Brian's tone, you definitely must buy this pedal.
Supplied free with each TB-83 is an English Six Pence coin. The same used by Brian as a guitar plectrum.
