Belmont's Revenge Updates

5.6.01

"I'll be back." - The Terminator. I'm back and the site has been updated! The Codes&Help page should be up...now I've only got two more pages to get transferred, and Belmont's Revenge move to the new address should be complete. I don't think I'll get around to working on them tonight since I've got some homework still left to do, but I felt like I needed to get an update done since I had been gone all weekend. I was looking at some videogame magazine...I forgot the name of it...but it said CV Advance had received one of the highest ratings of any Game Boy game!!! I saw a few more screenshots in the mag...and it definitley looks like it's going to rock! Until next time...

5.1.01

I've been having problems uploading files and updates to Fortunecity. One thing that was never wrong with Freeservers was its FTP service. If this continues...I might have to continue my search for a web location. There is still Geocities and Xoom I could look into. I just need to be patient.

In other news...Eric Roman has begun remodeling CV Interactive. Keep stopping by to see what's been added. I know the additions will help everyone.

4.29.01 (Later, Later)

I converted and added the Story page...continuing with the conversions...keep checking in.

4.29.01 (Later)

I converted and added the Info page...now on to the rest...keep stopping by.

4.29.01

CV Interactive has been updated today with a new fan art of Slogra by Catastrophe. Check it out! More updates and conversions to come.

4.28.01

I added a tight new background sound! Sit back and enjoy. More updates and conversions to come.

4.26.01

Belmont's Revenge is back in business. The doors have opened...the presses have been turned back on...and Iron Doll is still swinging his sword at good old Chris Belmont. It feels good to be back. Not all the links are up yet...I hope to get them all back and running as soon as I can. As of right now...this page, the main page, and CV Interactive are the only links working. CV Interactive is going to be expanded a little to include the Roms, fan art, fan fictions, and midi files I used to have here at Belmont's Revenge. Also, big man Eric Roman has been playing around with a new logo for CV Interactive and I cannot wait to see the finished product. Things are busy here again, but I hope to keep up the updating this time. I'm still pretty busy with school work, but I've only got the rest of this month and May before I get out. It seems very far off. Junior year will come to a close...thank goodness.

In CV News, CV Advance...a.k.a...CircleVania (coined term of Eric "The Man" Roman)...a.k.a. Castlevania : Circle of the Moon will be released on June 11, 2001, the same day as the release of the Game Boy Advance. Gameboy Castlevania havoc is back after a somewhat diappointing third entry of Castlevania Legends. Don't get me wrong...the game was ok...I liked the idea of finding the weapons for the secret ending and the new special weapons...but I still think it could have been better. I'm still upset our hero Christopher Belmont won't be appearing in this new CV Gameboy game...they need to at least make a reference to him. He introduced CV slaying to the Gameboy way back with The Castelvania Adventure and continued it with Belmont's Revenge. Nathan Graves doesn't sound too bad...but Hugh Baldwin?!?!? C'mon Konami...let's be a little bit more creative with the names...there's enough Baldwin brothers running around to form a small nation. Nevertheless, I'm still looking foward to it and intend to buy it...hopefully on release date...I've been waiting a while for a new Castlevania game.

That's about it for now...keep dropping in to see what's new...and I'll talk to you fans later. Long live Castlevania!

2.23.01

Welcome to Belmont's Revenge, faithful followers of the Game Boy Classic. During this page's run there have been several visitors and supporters. I appreciate all coments to the page. I know I have not maintained the page adequately. The fans deserve more, much more than I am able to give. No the site won't quit yet...I'll still bring Belmont's Revenge to you live via the web, but as far as CV News and updates...I'll do my best...which isn't good enough. I'm simplifying the page some now...to make it easier for its move to a new web service at Fortunecity.

That's right, that infamous move to Fortunecity will be underway. I dunno when I'll be done transferring files, changing links and what not, but hopefully it will be done soon. Then I'll work on repairing this site to be more "viewer friendly." I know my links were not always working and the problems with Freeservers not showing all my material continued even after I sent in an e-mail. You'll still be able to see all the info, files, and fan pics here until I make the big move. Then belmontsrevenge.8m.com will still remain the start page, but you'll be linked to a new Fortunecity site. Sorry fro the inconvience and I hope I can be a better webmaster to all you die-hard fans of Castlevania and Belmont's Revenge.

On another sorrowful note, Eric Roman is performing the last finishing touches on Dracula's Curse the Page. DCTP will still be there, but the presses won't be operated except by the clean up crew every few months. DCTP is an excellent example of a what a CV site should be...one that provides information on the game, but not just the bare bones. It should also provide the author's opinions and other thoughts if it is to truly be a great informative page. Though you might not agree with everything, you still have to respect the author's view. It'll be a sad day once the doors at the DCTP homestead close indefinitely. I know I'll miss it, but life changes, and we've all got to change with it. Roman won't be out of commission though, new projects including CV Interactive, will be undertaken by the Red Reamer and the 'net will still be blessed with CV humor and good times.

Until Belmont's Revenge is back up and running, I will talk to you fans later. Drop Eric a line and tell him how great his site is and was, and let him know that you all enjoyed it. Keep playing Castlevania and keep watching the St. Louis Blues on their road to Stanley Cup (I hope.)

Regards,

Scott Helfrich, Webmaster of Belmont's Revenge and Creator and Staff member of CV Interactive

7.31.00

Well, fans...another update so soon...what could it be...I was thinking the same thing, but hey I got time to spare. We've got two new fan arts compliments of Eric Roman of the Angel Dummy, plus a new fan fic that he and I wrote online a while back entitled "The Story Never Told" - good stuff. Ya need to check it out at either his site or here at CV2BR. Also, some problems have arose with Lord Death's Award - the stupid image keeps on messing up for some unknown reason so I'll have to play around with it some more and see if I can't get it working again. Furthermore, I recently got a copy of CV Legends for the Game Boy and successfully defeated it after some annoying times. The instruction booklet art was great, but man, reappearing enemies every 5 seconds does get annoying and gut-wrenching. Why won't those annoying ghosts die!!! Not even mentioning the bats, which all of a sudden have almost become super human...only traveling in a diagonal direction!!! Boy how I longed for those idiot bats from Belmont's Revenge. All in all, though the game is decent and worth at least a look at if not a purchase for any die-hard CV fan, but I've gotta say, in my opinion, Belmont's Revenge is still the best! Also, check out this cool pic of Dracura Densetsu II sent by Megamur...this image rocks...so keep an eye out for it as it might appear here and there on the site from time to time. I know it's pretty small so hopefully I can boost its size some.

Has anyone heard anymore about CV Resurrection lately? I stopped by John and Audra's CastleVania Page and read the news that it is now due out first quarter of 2000?!?!?! I hope it's true...DreamCastlevania and Shin Dracula X still on the way, hopefully... Well, that's about all for now...next on my list of things to do with the site is to finally get the one fan art I drew scanned and posted, get another review written, get some more links up for fellow CV Webmasters, and maybe work a little bit more on my fan fiction, Nosferatu : The Talbot Chronicles. Stay tuned, fans, and keep playing Castlevania!!!

7.23.00

UPDATE!!! YES!!! CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES C'MON!!! We've got plenty of stuff for you to sort through from 2 new reviews and a fan art (compliments of Megamur), to a revamped timeline and CV GameBoy rumor (thanks "Neo"), and a new look for the Castlevania : Catacombs of Death Award. So, take your time, sit back and relax, and enjoy the ride. First up on the discussion table, I'm putting CV Interactive on hold since I really didn't have a concrete beginning for the site nor the time to devote to the completion of it. I might just incorporate it into the new "Reviews" page which just might be the next best thing. Co-worker of the site now, Joe Scyoc, hasn't been doing much (I've been bugging him to get a fan art done, but he's been difficult when it comes to deadlines...) Also, "Neo" informed me that the new Castlevania game for Gameboy that I thought would be Castlevania II Simon's Quest for the Color GameBoy might actually be an upgrade to Belmont's Revenge!?!?! Perhaps new levels, bosses, a playable Soleiyu...we can only hope...also according to the new CV timeline at CV Saga, Christopher actually came before Simon and after Trevor. The dates were more around the 1576 - 1591 range. Good News! Eric Roman is not dead, but has actually "upgraded" his site! I was so thrilled to be able to read another upgrade that I was pumped up enough to whip up this update for Belmont's Revenge!!! In other news...well, if Konami is postponing CV Ressurrection...they better hurry up with Shin Dracula X and it better be for Dreamcast...I mainly got the hunk of metal for a CV game...and I need one for it and soon. Also, read this excerpt from an e-mail I received a while ago...

"Scott man,you shouldn't waste your time on this website man. You've shown some great potential! You should make a better website about something else ya know?I'm not saying that this CV ewbsite is bad,I'm just saying that it's about a supernintendo game that had poor graphics:)Yeah I guess that it was a good game but you've gotta get something better. You could make a really popular website in a giffy.I'm not trying to dis on you or anything....it's just a suggestion.Well, keep up your good work in whatever.Catcha later man. Matt"

The putting down of the Castlevania series?!?! I almost burned the message in my e-mail box...and as far as wasting my time with this site, I think I've done a pretty good job and hey, people come here, and like it...other than this message...I've received only positive feedback. Poor graphics...hmrrph...I do consider myself "dissed" and it is your suggestion and I will continue to "waste" my time on this site because it is making a difference on the web...and CV II BR is finally being recognized! SO UNTIL NEXT TIME...MAY CASTLEVANIA NEVER DIE AND MAY THE ETERNAL FLAME THAT BURNS WITHIN ALL CV FANS EVERYWHERE NEVER FLICKER OR DIE OUT! LONG LIVE CASTLEVANIA!!!

6.5.00

Well, I'm back from vacation and working on the site once again, and when I came home, boy did I find a lot of mail. A big thanks goes out to Megamur and Catastrophe for sending in all the fan art. It's looking great and keep up the good work. Also, another big thanks goes out to Megamur again for sending in his review of Castlevania II : Belmont's Revenge - the first fan review. Check the Fan Art out under Media and the Reviews under Info. Whew! Also, I'm glad to announce that there is now a new member that has joined the staff here at Belmont's Revenge...Joe Scyoc. Check out Joe's art in the Fan Art section. His picture is the one of Chris and Drac together. Thanks for wanting to help out the page and I'm sure that together we can both mainain the site better than when I did it alone. As for "CV Interactive", well it is still in the works as of right now, but hopefully with a little hard work and some help from Joe, we can get it online. That's about it for now...I haven't heard anything else really about Castlevania Ressurrection recently, so I am supposing that it is still placed on "hold". Read the review and enjoy the fan art! So long, CV Fans!

<5.24.00

Goodness it's been a long time since I updated the site...man I've heard of long droughts but what I put you fans through has got to be ridiculous. I apologize for all the waiting you had to endure, but due to my busy schedule, schoolwork, and laziness, the site has gotten a few cobwebs, but now since the blessed summer has come, I can finally find some more time for the site. First off though I've got to make a few requests...please to all of you who have submitted information to the site, if you could be so kind as to resend it (this includes fan art), I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm not real sure what pictures I still need to post and what stuff I already have posted and since it's late tonight, my laziness and tiredness has set in to a greater extent and I'm surprised that I'm actually sitting down here right now and making this small update. Within the next few days hopefully, I can make the corrections and updates needed as long as my Frontpage Express editor continues to work. That's right, if anyone knows a good HTML Beginners page or HTML, Javascript learning site, send it to me so I can learn it and maybe this all will be a little easier to update. But enough of this boo hoo pity party, the real bummer is on the way... So you've probably all heard the disappointing news about Dracula Ressurrection and how it's now put on "hold". Well, good old Konami has let us down once again, especially for those of us who now own a Dreamcast system, primarily for that game. This displeases me greatly and I'm about to write them a complaint e-mail when I realize that hey, what does a huge major videogame company care about one disgruntled customer. Hey, I mean we're just the people who pay your paychecks. I got one word for this and that is BOGUS!!! Can I get an AMEN??!?! Well, since I've been having some problems continually maintaining the site, I am now open to some new options in order to help improve the overall quality of the site. If there is any of you die hard Castlevania fans with some HTML background and are interested in possibly becoming part of the staff here at Belmont's Revenge, go ahead and send some e-mail my way telling me about it. I'm also thinking about making the site a little bit more "interactive" with you the fans taking a larger part in what actually goes on here at the site. For example, if you've got an awesome idea for a Castlevania game, saved picture, strategy, review, or anything you've got on your chest to say about videogames in general, to send it our way, and perhaps I'll post it a new section I'm tentively (hope that spelled right - spelling never was my strong suit) calling it, "CV INTERACTIVE". It was an old idea of mine from a while back, so if you think it's a good idea, bad idea, or are interested, please send me some feedback. Well, that's it for now. Hopefully in the next couple days, I'll go through all the files I got and make the proper changes, but until then, so long and LONG LIVE CASTLEVANIA!!!

1.21.00

Well, we survived Y2K and we're all still here, and it's been as busy as ever here at Belmont's Revenge. I've been receiving tons of positive e-mail and entries in the guestbook! Thanks to everyone. I've gotten 4 new fan art pictures, a typed manual, 2 new midis, and started a new review page all tonight. Go check out the fan art pictures and midis under MEDIA and the new review page under Reviews in Info and the new manual in the Misc. section of INFO. A big thanks goes again to Catastrophe for her excellent artwork, Joe Scyoc for his generous donation to the fan art (man, the picture looks great! I'd suggest you check out Chris and Drac fan art by Joe), and Eric Roman, for his two pictures of Iron Doll, and for all the support he's given me on his site. Go visit his site out at Castlevania 3 : Dracula's Curse - Page located in the links section. Also, check out Attack Robot, done by Joe Scyoc. Look for a link to it on the links page. You won't be disappointed with either of them. Also, if anyone is interested, I'd be much obliged if anyone could send me a walkthrough to post on the site of Castlevania II : Belmont's Revenge. I'm still waiting for my first fan fiction, and can't wait until the first one arrives. And keep sending the fan art in, I love looking at the excellent pictures drawn my CV fans! Well, I've actually taken the time to begin a fan art myself that looks decent (really good for me) and I'll try to post it as soon as possible. I've also defeated Dracula with Cornell and saved all the children with Henry in Castlevania Legacy of Darkness. Man, Henry is an awesome character! I've also got my hands on a copy of Dracula X for SNES from a friend of mine and am busy playing that as well. Well, I've talked enough for now, until next time, keep playing Castlevania!

12.23.99

Merry Christmas everyone! Well, my Christmas break has officially started and I decided to update the site a bit. I don't have too much info, but enough for an update. I've received another fantastic fan art from the same artist who drew the most annoying enemy in Belmont's Revenge, the Punaguchi. The picture was once again drawn with Paint Shop Pro, but it looks better than ever. Thanks "Catastrophe" for that excellent addition to the fan art. Well, I can't say anything about CastleVania : Legacy of Darkness except that I hope I get it for Christmas this year. I've read mixed reviews on the game itself, but it looks like it'd be a lot of fun to me. IGN64.com pretty much brutalized it and said it wasn't worth spending the money for it, and that nothing had been improved except that you had two more characters and a few extra stages. Well, IGN, that's all the game is supposed to be - a remake of the first. It isn't supposed to return with wonderful enhanced graphics. All the game is supposed to be is a REMAKE, with stuff that was supposed to be included in the original. IGN obviously was expecting a new sequel game and not just a simple remake. I think they've been too busy playing Donkey Kong and Mario Golf to really sit down and realize what Castlevania Legacy of Darkness is supposed to be. (Sighs) With that said, Nintendo Power gave the game a great review. I knew that NP is normally pretty biased with Nintendo games, but at least they recognized that the game was only supposed to be what Castlevania 64 was meant to be. Oh well, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and keep playing Castlevania!

12.3.99

Great news, fans! Belmont's Revenge, the site has won it's first web award! A big thanks goes out to Death at Death's Castlevania Dungeon for choosing this site to become one of the next proud owners of this award. Here's a quick view of it! Go visit his site and check out all the info he's got posted.

In other news, I've received two new fan art pictures. One of them, of a Punaguchi from CastleVania II : Belmont's Revenge is excellent without even considering the fact that it was only drawn using the mouse on Paint Shop Pro. It's great and I'd suggest checking it out. Well, that's all for now, Castlevania Legacy of Darkness is due out in about five days or so now...also I read in a magazine that CV Resurrection is coming out on Dec. 15 now. I knew it was a rumor, but perhaps it's true now. If anyone has any more information, please e-mail me. Keep sending fan art, guys, and possibly a fan fiction. Until the next update, keep playing Castlevania!

11.13.99

I've got some more fan art to post now...one of Chris Belmont drawn by one of my friends, Brad. It looks pretty funny since he drew it with MS Paint also, and it's all at a slant. Oh well, I'll accept anything like I said before. Also, check out these great pictures of Sonia and Victor from CastleVania : Resurrection from the Dreamcast.

11.12.99

Fans, I've been busy at work on the info section and I finally got it completed. There might be a few problems with it since I can't use my FTP program anymore to upload files, I've got to go to the Freeservers site and then upload my files. It's a pain and a little bit harder and takes longer to upload the files. Just another problem to complain about from good old Freeservers to go along with the banner at the top that always messes up my frames. Also, I tried visiting my site with Netscape Navigator and the links in the frame up top didn't work at all. You had to right click on them and choose "Open in New Window" to see the page. I don't know if this is the same for everyone, but it ticked me off. So if you expierence any problems with the menu bar up top, let me know. I've added a Main Menu to the main page if the links in the frames don't work. Also - the no frames version has been made. Sorry about these complaints, but I'm seriously considering moving the site to a new free web service. Thank you for your time.

10.30.99

Well, guys it didn't take me too long for this update. You won't believe it, but I, Scott, webmaster of this site, actually drew a picture for my own fan art. It's pretty bad, but then again I said I wasn't that great of an artist. Go to the fan art gallery under media and check it out. If ya like it or don't go ahead and mail me. Happy Halloween!

10.23.99

Another month, another update. Sorry about the long wait in between updates. This isn't really a major update. As you probably noticed, I've changed the background music. I love "Praying Hands" and can't complain, but I felt that it was time for a change. So now sit back, relax, and listen to Crystal Castle's Background Music. Also, check out the Links section, I've added a few. No more fan art has submitted although Megamur has told me that he plans on adding to the art some time soon. The site has been having a few more visitors recently, though, and this pleases me a lot. At least some people check out my site. Also, I've read on the 'net that Castlevania Special Edition is now not being released until December 8. If this is true, someone please contact me to let me know for sure. Another rumor that I've read on the web has been that Castlevania Ressurrection, for the Dreamcast, is now supposed to be released in mid December somewhere around December 15?!?! Once again, contact me if you have any more information. Also, after e-mailing Kurt Kalata, webmaster of the Castlevania Dungeon, the best CV site on the web, I discovered that there just might be another Belmont's Revenge site that was created before this one, so I might have to change my opening statement of : "I hope to change all that by releasing the very first CV II : Belmont's Revenge Tribute Page." I apologize. Thanks for stopping by and keep visiting the site!

9.24.99

Man, it's been almost a month since I made the last update...and I'm sorry to say that no, I haven't completed the "Info" page yet, nor have I even started it. School started about a month ago and I've been pretty busy with homework and other activities, but today...being the first half day at school, I've been able to find some time this afternoon to work on the site. So far I've been receiving some pretty nice e-mail from fellow CV fans. Even someone from ITALY!!! To most big sites this is probably not a real big deal, but since I'm in the U.S. and haven't really been out of the country (except to Mexico), I'm really excited and pleased about it. I never thought that my site would be seen except by a few of my friends and maybe one or two other CV fans. Also, good news, I've finally received some fan art and have posted it in the "Fan Art" section of the site. It's of "Vampire Hunter K", a vampire slayer dressed like Richter Belmont, but having cat-like ears and a tail. Cool stuff, check it out! A big thanks goes to "Megamur" who submitted this drawing and for submitting new strategies for The Snake Creature (boss of the Final Castle, Stage 1), Soleiyu (Demon-Possessed son of Chris Belmont and boss of the Final Castle, Stage 2), and the head honcho, Drac. Also, Castlevania Special Edition, should be coming out sometime next month, I think. (If not, someone please e-mail me and tell me otherwise.) It should be pretty neat to see Kohnell, the werewolf guy, duke it out with Drac and his evil minions. For more info on CV : SE check out videogames.com, IGN.com, or The Castlevania Dungeon. Also, a couple weeks ago I got a used PSX and found CastleVania : Symphony of the Night. It was a really cool game, different from the rest, but still good, and hey change can be good! Also I found Castlevania : Bloodlines for the Sega Genisis in a bin at an old Wal - Mart. I've been busy playing that too...I'm stuck on Stage 5 : Palace at Versailles, but slowly making my way through it. Anybody got a DreamCast yet? That console looks awesome and it'll be even better once CV : Ressurrection comes out. Well, that's it for now...keep playing Castlevania and checking in for updates! Thanks for the support fans!

8.25.99 (Later)

Finished links and added the HTML for the Castlevania Web Ring on both the links page and main page. Let the Belmont fans come! Info should hopefully be finished by the end of the week. Freeservers.com's banner has been messing up my frames. Now for some odd reason, the navigation bar only pops up on the main page. I tried playing with the frames a little, but I got the same effect. Now to navigate through the site you'll have to always press back after viewing one of the pages to get back to the main page and see the navigation bar. The frames might have to be changed in the near future so keep checking in.

8.25.99

The Updates Page is created...one step closer to completeing the site... Also created the Codes page and joined "The Castlevania Web Ring". Hopefully that will increase traffic to the site. All pages working now except links (which I hope to have up by tonight) and info. Keep coming and checking out the site.
