Killed in action on March 17th 1945 in the village Eisen, municipality Nohfelden, distrikt St. Wendel, Saarland, Germany

I saw as the 94. US-Inf.Div. marched into my mothers place of birth Eisen on the 17th of March 1945 as five and half year old child. On the afternoon of this day a young german soldier was killed on the eastern edge of the village. I saw his body lying in the field for 8 days, because the commander of the occupation forces forbid to bury him. I can't forget this sight for my whole live! The soldier was in the company of 8 other young soldiers.

Who am I ?

Part of them were captured as POW. The largest part of these german soldiers including one sergeant was able to flee. They reached the "Westwallbunker" in which we people of the village were hiding. During the talks in front of the bunker the place of birth of the killed soldier was mentioned. Sadly I can not remember it. Thus it is very important to find those about 18 year old companions of the soldier.

I want to publish some facts and some photos here, that might help the former soldiers to remember some details.
