Well, where do I start? Trust me its no easy task to describe yourself in just a few short sentences AND make it exciting enough to encourage you to read on....here goes nothing! My name is Sue, I am, uh hum, 32 years old and I live in Queensland ~ Australia with my partner and our two children. My daughter is 12 years and I also have a son who is 6 years old. In my spare time (which is getting rarer every day) I like to read ~ Grisham is a favourite but when desperate the side of a cereal box will do! ~ photography ~ mainly of my animals, family and friends ~ sewing, and the study of Australian wildlife. When I first started caring for wildlife I had no idea of the impact it would make in my life. It's very demanding both emotionally and physically ~ ever tried 2 hourly feeds around the clock? ~ and I am rarely seen without at least one animal in tow. I raise all sorts of animals from birds of every description, to Kangaroo Joeys, Possums, Gliders and of course my beloved Flying Foxes. Most of these creatures have been orphaned through human interferance (cars, power lines, habitat loss, dogs, cats etc) and I do my best to 'repair' some of the damage done by man. All of the animals that I raise are released back into the wild when they are old enough to have a good chance of survival. Obviously I get attatched to some of my animals and it can be heartwrenching to let them go, but I know that these creatures were born to be free, not to be kept as pets or companions. I get a great deal of satisfaction knowing that I have played a part in their survival.
I also work part time with a non profit organization teaching Japanese students that visit Australia on study tours English. This is a photo of me with one of my students. | |
