I am a native of Birmingham, the largest city in Alabama. After a number of years of avid interest in computers, I decided to pursue a career in the IT industry. After all, do what you love and a job becomes more than just a paycheck, right? For a little over a year, I have been working in technical support positions. This has been an enjoyable occupation for me, since it combines my computer avocation with an opportunity to be of help to people. It has been very gratifying to talk to people from all over the U.S., of varying technical ability, and assist them in resolving their problems. My current interests are to move to technical writing, and perhaps at a later time to pursue a network administrator career path. Technical writing is interesting to me for several reasons. First of all, I simply enjoy language. It is also offers a somewhat more detail-oriented, precise approach than the ad hoc nature of tech support. Finally, in my experience, much of the documentation produced for computer software either fails to give enough information or it is simply unreadable. Seldom does a user manual strike a balance between these two problems. I want to apply the skills I have to help produce accurate, complete, and understandable documentation in order to benefit both the company and the user. Resume |
