LADIES OF THE AZURE

No less fair, these Dames than the lillies gold
Of their pavillion, inspiring good knights
And humble soldiers to acts brave and bold.
These lovely faces give strength in our fights.
So comes a humble poet, a poor rogue,
Who in words all inadequate now trys
To capture in his verse their stately vogue
And their noble grace memorialize.
Mere words fail the task! Such inspiration
Requires a sword to fully express
A knight'a, not a poet's, admiration,
With glorious acts of knightly prowess.
For so gracious and lovely an entourage
So inspire their warriors to courage.
