INTENT

The tourney calls, a true knight answers now.
A seasoned lord, far-travelled, sent me hence.
To do great deeds of honor is his vow,
Although his armor's worn, with many dents.
In chivalry, a list in now decreed,
Especial to the ladies' graceful hearts,
And one unworthy striving man of deeds
Sends forth with his intent to take his part.
Neither splendor, nor pomp, nor showy speech,
Denote alone a knightly puissant lord.
But he whose heart has fixed ideals may reach
Such heights as one ne'er found with only sword.
And so comes now this man, one known to all,
Galen of Bristol, to conquer or fall!
