FAIR COMPANY

Thou art with me without interruption.
I carry thee ever in mind with me.
I see thee clearly without obstruction;
No keepsake or token remembers thee.
But thy smile keeps me goodly company,
Thine eyes watch throughout the entire day;
Without warning I lapse into rev'rie,
And walk, heart with heart, for a little way.
Neither distance nor time separate us,
I feel thy soul always touching my own.
For me, saying farewell is no great loss;
When thinking of thee, I'm never alone.
For thy fair company so sustains my cheer,
I oft forget I met thee just this year.
