Like the sun, from the east this lady comes,
With no less spirit, though of joy, far more.
So bright the sky, and the very earth hums.
What fairer creature in man's myth or lore?
Daughter of nobles great, yet nobler still
Her heart. No crown bestow'd could e'er convey
The depth of nobility in her will,
Nor coronet improve her gracious way.
And yet, she has smiled on me, I who am
No more to her than any passing loud fool.
O'erlook'd by her, my feelings test the dam.
But each unknown, we talked in shady cool.
And so, of mine own self she teaches me,
To know, and love, with all humility.
