Systems
Today, there are many different systems of Baguazhang. The two most promenient systems are Cheng Tinghua's Baguazhang and Yin Fu's Baguazhnag.

For ease of searching the various systems have classified in alphabetical order, with the the surname of first.


Cheng Tinghua's Baguazhang

Cheng Tinghua was well-known wrestler, his version has many steps to the opponent's back. Sets are performed with high speed, usually performer try to reach continuity. Special form of a palm is "palm - dragon's claw". Practicioners often use baibu ("opening step"). Originally there were three palms only - "single palm change", "double palm change" and "palm of following the situation" (so-called "old 3 palms"). Later more methods were developed. Now there exist the next sets: "8 basic palms", "8 big palms", "64 palms", "Linked palms of swimming body", "Palms of 9 palaces", "Palms of 3 talants, 3 forms and 3 basins", "8 animals palms", "Palms of 5 elements and 3 combinations", "Linked 8 elbows, 8 hammers and 8 palms". Weapons: halberd, spear ("Spear of rotating body", "Bagua rotating spear"), straight sword ("Linked sword", "Linked Chunyang sword", "Bagua rotating sword"), staff ("Linked Coiling Dragon Staff", "5 Elements Stick ", "Seven Star Staff"), axes of `zi' and `wu' signs ("Bagua axes of `zi' and `wu' signs").
Liang Zhenpu's baguazhang
Liang Zhenpu was the youngest of Dong Haichuan students, and after the teacher's death he continued to study the art from senior brothers. This version emphasize the training of stepping. Sets: "8 palms of fixed situations", "Old 8 palms", "8 elbows", "Main 6 grasps", "64 palms" (1-man and 2-men versions), "Dragon palmes of bagua". Weapons: broadsword ("Bagua Rolling Hand Broadsword"), straight sword ("Bagua Three Combinations Sword" - 1-man version from 72 movements and 2-men version from 76 movements), cock's claw yon-yang edges.

Fu Zhensong's Baguazhang

Besides baguazhang, Fu Zhensong also studied taijiquan of Chen family, and his version of baguazhang is a mix of baguazhang and taijiquan.

Gao Yisheng's Baguazhang

Gao Yishengs began to study baguazhang from Song Changrong at 1892. Three years later he went away, because he wanted more than simplest rotating of palm, but his teacher thought that he is not trained enough for such a methods. At 1896 Gao Yisheng was defeated by Zhou Yuxiang and became his student. Zhou introduced him to Cheng Tinghua, and Yisheng studied from Cheng up to 1900. Later (till 1911) he studied baguazhang from Zhou Yuxiang. According to legend, later he met Song Yiren - Bi Chengxia's (Dong Haichuan's teacher) student. SOng said to Gao, that Dong studied "pre-heaven techniques" only, and for complete system it is necessary to study "post-heaven techniwues" also. So Gao Yisheng's baguazhang has the dividing on "pre-heaven" and "post-heaven" methods.


Jiang Rongqiao's Baguazhang

Jiang Rongqiao added to baguazhang methods from xingyiquan, taijiquan and mizongquan. He taught his system in Central Guoshu Institute, and his system became wide-spreaded. Sets: "1st set", "72 hidden kicks".

Liu Dekuan's Baguazhang

Liu Dekuan divided the trainig on the training of inner power (with moving on circle) and tha training of combat application (with moving of straight line). Hence his version is often called "straight-line baguazhang".
Yin Fu's baguazhang

Yin Fu also knew lohanquan, therefore his version has more strikes, circle steps is used not for attacking opponent from his back, but for evading the attack. Sets are performed in very concentrated manner. Special form of palm is "palm - cow's tongue". Sets: "Old 8 palms", "Penetrating palm". Also there exist 72 qinna methods.
