Dong Haichuan (c. 1813 to 1882 ) was a native of Zhu village, Wu An, Hebei Province. Some say that he was born on 13th of October, 1797 (Qing Jia Qing 2nd Year). However, the noted Baguazhang historian believes it was sometime around the year 1813 that he was born.

When he went to Beijing, he taugh Zhuan Zhang (Rotating Palm).
