Personal pair of languages are Arabic/English. The other languages are via working in pairs with other German native and Russian native translators. They each translate between their native languages and English and can be contacted by contacting me. Being natives in 3 languages, we use English as a transition language to translate between Arabic, German and Russian.

Having only registered very recently on ProZ (May, 2001), this profile is slowly being built up.

METHOD OF PAYMENT

For overseas payments they are to be made direct to “Auday Hatim Abdul Sahib” (name as spelt in passport), Current Account Number, 0697445573, Riqqa Branch, Mashreq Bank, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. An alternative payee name and/or account particulars may be named.

All transfer fees, charges, commissions, fax (where needed) charges, courier (for floppy, CD, printout etc.) and any non translation extras, to be born by the client requiring the translation service. Depending on the size of the translation payments may be required in installments as the work gets emailed (within two days from being submitted by email). Small jobs of less than 4000 words must be paid within two days from being submitted by email. Fax charges, where necessary and unless alternatively agreed on, to be borne by the client (see CONDITIONS below).

========================================================

CONDITIONS

Unless separately or alternatively agreed on:

Translations will be done and submitted in Microsoft Word 97 or earlier formats of Microsoft Word or "text only" formats or those supported by Word 97.

The client must have the software to read the emailed translated documents.

If the job is to be faxed the estimated fax charges will be accepted and paid by the client.

The estimated charges for sending any floppy disc or CD output or printout to be courier sent, will be borne by the client.

Once emailed, faxed or/and courier sent the client agrees to pay within 2 days from being emailed with his/her translation request regardless of having the software to read it or not (faxing or sending floppy etc. will be refused until fees are transferred and affected to the translator's account or the account instructed). Client accepts that once a translation is commissioned and emailed back as "done", no excuses will be accepted or considered valid to cover up any failure or delay to pay in full. Slight variations or amendments (the definition of "slight" left to our discretion) may be done freely once payment is made in full.

PAYMENTS MADE DURING OR PRIOR TO DOING THE TRANSLATION BASED ON GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT/S ARE WELCOMED AND WILL BE RESPECTIVELY HONOURED, AS THEY EQUIVALENTLY DESERVE.

Some, none of my clients yet, have been spotted smearing the reputation of a translator on the ProZ site and elsewhere occasionally as one amongst many for excuses for not paying. One claimed that they had lost a client because of a poor translation. Why don't they say that they had lost the client because the client found someone better than them (if at nothing then at least in being better in knowing how to choose a better translator). Regardless of the excuse/s, it was the person/firm who chose that translator in the first place, hence initially his fault for using the wrong procedures in not checking and choosing one to the standards of his/her requirements (for guidelines on choosing properly see further below). Upon noting that some clients regretfully go to the extents of slandering translators and worse with messages on websites, when it was their, the clients', fault in the first place for choosing from a free market site, any client in accepting a translation from us, is notified of this site and therefore regardless of having read it or not, is considered to agree to relinquishing his right to demand for libel of any form in what he/she/they instigate to secure payment after 30 days delay, even if it means advertising their conduct in whatever way on websites or whatever other way. In agreeing to choose us, a client understands that he wavers his/her/their right to demand libel for any undertaking that we revert to, to ensure payment.

Setting high rates may mean an excellent translator or a poor level one hiding behind such a method (namely overpricing). Setting low rates may mean a beginner or maybe an excellent translator needing work. Good or bad, new or old, experienced, semi experienced or not experienced, we don't advertise on a fixed public site to get defamed by clients that have the habit of getting things free where they can get away with it or claim dissatisfaction even if truly rightful. Note also that submitting poorly edited text leads to a poor translation and in my experience 50% of original texts are poorly edited. ProZ is a site where beginners, new translators, reputable translators and agencies all meet as each finds the site. It is your business to properly choose whom you think meets your requirements. In any profession there is always someone better than others are. To find that "someone" may prove futile, for he/she may have moved out of doing translation or never taken it up. The best translators like most who meet with success, eventually get rich and leave the business that they are in (like you would do). I might not leave translation (never become rich enough to leave it), but I appreciate that most if not all try to do their best. Their best might not be good enough for you, but it is their best. Before you revert to such discouraging procedures, remember how no one broke you down when you were a starter or how it felt when some tried or even did. Abilities vary and those who aren't perfect are not necessarily fiddlers. In fact fiddlers are rarely drawn into translation and if you land with one you can only blame yourself for how that happened. Translation isn't the perfect place to try to fiddle others by. Nor is it a pre-occupation that attracts fiddlers. When you advertise a job for bids you are inherently asking for the cheapest price. The shorter and more ambiguous your job description the more chance that you'll end up dissatisfied. A wise man once said "If there was one sane person between two arguing, there wouldn't be a quarrel", and if any take the opportunity to draw us into a quarrel, we won't hesitate to take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy making them madder, especially when they have taken the fee for it. Finding the best translator for your purposes is a trial and error procedure, but once you do find one who best meets your purposes stick to him or ask him for reference to others if he knows. AS A ROUGH GUIDE FOR CHOOSING YOUR TRANSLATOR GO TO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING (For downloading, you'll need an Adobe Acrobat Viewer to read this):

or go to:

http://www.iti.org.uk/documents/advice_for_businesses.html

or

http://www.iti.org.uk/pages/news.cgi?requested_id=4

The latter are sites by an independent organisation and the latter two will lead you to downloading the first site if not immediately downloadable. It will provide you with the basic guidelines on the matter of choosing the translator for your requirements.

========================================================

NOTE: Your submitted text may have taken you "x" days to formulate. A good translator may need the same number of days to effectively translate it. As an example, for those that take 10 days to formulate a 10 page text, it may need 2-4 days to translate to equivalent standard in another language. Most translators may be able to submit 10-15 pages a day, but certain terms, inaccuracies and ambiguities in original text etc. may lead to delay to clear them up even if facilitated by email or directly calling the client who may in his turn need time to properly reply and clear them up. A translator as any workman/contractor/labourer/etc. wishes to pocket his fees as quickly as possible; however a translator that cares for his reputation does not want this at the expense of the standard of his/her work. Hassling, requests for speeding up etc. only lead to adverse effects on the translation output. My personal particulars (phone, fax, email etc) have been supplied in full with the hope that the client also supplies his/her Particulars in full. To affect as near perfect a translation as possible occasional communication with the client, during the translation, may be required. Please supply your full particulars (your personal mobile number too, to ensure speed).

========================================================

PRICE

Like almost all commodities on a free market, prices are subject to quality, supply and demand and the seasonal variations between the latter two in addition to other reasons. The price set at any time depends on how hard a translator wants or needs a client at a specific time amongst other factors. Comparing with prices on websites, our quality is worth more than $ 0.25 per word for normal translation; but we give discounts that can bring this down to below $ 0.08 per word (for normal translation) for new clients who may be lucky to be contacted during recession periods and a number of other factors. When a committed translator has a commitment to see to, he wouldn't take a job from a non-regular client even if paying $ 100 per word. Tabulating for these factors is an impossible task.

Hence there is no set price, but presently we are working at discounted prices between $ 0.08 per word upwards at $ 50 minimum total for short text. Depending on a number of factors {language pair, season, topic, rush jobs and periods, slack jobs and periods, topic, purpose, usage of text (public, private etc.) etc.}, the minimum price and quotation may vary and will be noted here as these factors vary. If a price is quoted, it will stand for the duration of your tender or for one week only.
