Also known as Butterfly, Butterfly Tongues, Butterfly's Tongue, A Lingua das bolboretas
This movie covers the first year of school
for Moncho, a shy boy with asthma. After getting off to a poor start Moncho
becomes good friends with his teacher, a classmate (and the classmate's
sister) and generally has a great time for most of the year. He also travels
with a band his older brother is in and learns much about the world other
than what is taught in school. However, the year is 1936 and the Spanish
Republic falls under the Fascist rebels and many in the small town are
on the wrong side, including Moncho's father, his teacher and his best
friend's father.
This is a beautifully made movie with
an easy going, yet interesting plot which covers some very series subjects,
although mostly from the innocent stand point of a young child. This is
also in some way a coming of age story as Moncho learns something about
sex, and starts a relationship with a young girl. However, except for the
sex scene which Moncho and his friend watch from a hiding place, this too
is viewed from a young child's stand point.

There is one sex scene in which a man and a woman are both seen partially nude. The man from the rear, but revealing much between his legs, and the woman from the front, but only exposing her breasts to the camera. There is also a scene of several girls swimming in only their underwear, but while they are topless they are really to young to be considered nude since they have not yet developed breasts.
