Jacques arrived in Acadia from France on 14 Sep 1665, landing at Quebec aboard the "La Justice". He was a soldier in the Loubias Company of the Carignan Regiment. The company moved to Trois Riviere, Quebec where he is listed as a valet to Severin Ameau. By 1670 he was in Port Royal where he married. He was probably transferred back to Quebec City and Montreal from 1671 until before 1678 when he appears on the Port Royal census. He was taken prisoner by Sir William Phipps at Port Royal, but was released in a prisoner exchange that took place after Phipp's defeat at Quebec.
