Detailed Description:

When kept in the appropriate size aquarium this species should remain docile. However, if kept in the wrong size aquarium with little swimming room and less territory they will become aggressive. Plan accordingly.

This is a large species that has a dark black color. It's body is generally longer than other Pleco species. It's dorsal fin is rather large and can provide a good visual display.

If you keep this fish in a planted aquarium you'll most likely be replacing them as this fish enjoys plant matter. Feed them algae tablets are algae sheets. Don't rely on the algae in your tank, they will eat it but it won't be enough.

Sexing is unknown.

Breeding is said to be extremely difficult.
