Detailed Description:

The Spotted Shovelnose will have a dark tan body will a few dark black spots on the sides of the fish. The body and head are very flat. The nose has a "shovel" shape. The eyes will be on top of the head. This Shovelnose may have a bronze colored sheen.
A soft substrate, preferably light colored sand, is best. Rocks and plants should be used for hiding and territory. Make sure all decorations are smooth. This species has soft skin and can damage easily. Keep only with fish that are too large to fit in the Shovelnose's mouth (which is large). Keep a neutral pH and a cooler than normal temperature.

Carnivorous sinking foods are best for this fish. Worms will be relished as well. Flake foods and other floating foods have been successful but are not preferred.

Breeding and sexing are not known.
