Detailed Description:

This catfish gets its common name from its color and large mouth. The body will have a rusty red or brown base color. The body will also be long and flat. The head of this fish looks like a pancake, very flat and thin. Of course, the mouth is huge and is as wide or wider than any part of the body.
Driftwood and rocks will provide the appropriate cover for this fish. Water conditions are not drastically important because this fish will adapt to many different conditions. This doesn't mean an aquarist can neglect to clean the aquarium, that would be a mistake. It just means that you don't have to work yourself to the bone providing perfect conditions. Keep this fish will specimens larger than itself. This catfish is capable of eating anything smaller or roughly the same size. It can be territorial as well.

Feed sinking Carnivore foods. Pellets and worms work well.

Breeding and sexing are not known.
