This fish will
usually be silver in color with hard, bony scales. The head
will be large and the body will taper sharply towards the caudal
fin. There will be little or no pattern.
Rocks, driftwood, and rooted plants should be provided for cover.
Be warned however, this fish will likely re-arrange the aquarium
they way it sees fit. A soft substrate should be used to avoid
harming the soft belly and barbells. This is a peaceful species
that will work fine in a semi-aggressive environment. Its hard
exterior shell will provide enough protection to be housed with
more aggressive fish as well. It should not be kept in a community
aquarium because much smaller fish may become food.
Feed a varied diet of meat and vegetable based foods. Sinking
foods are best.
Sexing and breeding are not known. |
