Detailed Description:

This is a very attractive catfish. It will have a fairly tall dorsal fin. The base color will be dark (usually black or very dark brown) will a lighter, sometimes redish, pattern. The resulting pattern should look like large "Jaguar" like spots. The head will likely be solid in color. The fins will have white or lighter colored lines.
Driftwood and rocks will work well for hiding places. Subdued light is recommended through the use of floating plants because this fish is nocturnal and will hide during the day. Follow the guidelines listed in the facts for water conditions. They may be kept with other fish as long as they have enough territory. A pair of one male and one female is preferred.

Feed after the lights go out. Sinking foods are best and they should be meaty. Males are generally thinner than females and will have a small "extra" fin just in front of the anal fin, this is their sexual organ. Sometimes the male will be brighter in color.

These fish do not lay eggs, they are livebearers and young will be born live. The eggs will be fertilized internally.
