Detailed Description:

This is an interesting looking fish that is quite sought-after for it's uniqueness. The body is tan or brown in base color and has black marbling patterns. It's pectoral fins somewhat resemble wings and one must be careful because they can leap a good distance. They also have antanae that extend from the lower portion of their head region. They use these antanae to sense impending danger.
These fish are extremely nervous and will dart off with the slightest noise or movement. Care should be taken not to stress them out. To avoid unnecessary stress keep floating plants in the aquarium that they can hide in. Because these are surface dwellers current should be avoided or kept at a minimal level. A tight fitting lid or screen is essential.

These fish are Carnivorous fish with upturned mouths for surface food. Make sure you provide food to them in this way. Beefheart is a good option. Bloodworms are good too. Floating foods are essential. Crickets may be offered. These fish will not pursue sinking foods both because they won't desire them and because they probably won't see them.

These fish are egglayers and will lay up to about 200 eggs on the surface of the water. The fry will hatch in about 2-3 days. Once hatched great care must be taken to feed them. Food must be placed directly in front of them for them to eat.

Sexing is considered physically impossible.
