Spanner barbs
are unique in pattern. The body will be silver or white in
base with strong black lines. There will be a horizontal stripe
from the end of the tail to mid-body. Two vertical black stripes
will also be present, one at mid-body and one just behind the
gills.
Rocks must be provided in abundance. The water should be clean
and clear. The substrate should be a smooth gravel. Current is
not important, they can tolerate high currents or no current
at all. They should be kept with fish of similar size. They are
very quick and can elude even accomplished predators. Keep them
in schools of 3 or more. Plants may also be used, if you wish.
Feed typical fish foods. Natural foods include worms, shellfish,
insects, and plants. Use a balanced diet.
Sexing and breeding are not known. |
