Detailed Description:

Rosy Barbs have an overall Rose or light red color. The top of the body will usually be green. They are a shiny fish with iridescent sheen. The fins are generally very long and elegant. The head is small. There will usually be a dark spot towards the base of the tail.
These are very hardy fish that can tolerate various water qualities and conditions. They are attractive and don't need a lot of attention. Though they are capable of nipping fins, they generally do very well with smaller fish and aren't very aggressive. Tankmates could include other Barbs, Tetra, and small Gouramis. The substrate should be smooth gravel or sand. The light should be moderate. Current may be provided as long as it's no more than moderate. Provide plants and rocks for decoration.

Natural foods include worms, crustaceans, insects, and plants. Typical fish foods of all kinds will work fine. Keep the diet balanced with vegetable and meat based foods.

Males are generally more silver in color and smaller than females. Colors on both specimens will change during spawning.

Breeding habits are not known.
