Detailed Description:

Arowanas are widely known for their size and are quite popular among Carnivorous enthusiasts. This fish is no exception. It is large and can be mean when provoked. Because of it's size anything that will fit in it's mouth will be eaten.

This fish can come in several colors Gold, Green, and Red. Arowanas are easily recognizable due to their long, slender bodies and rear placed dorsal fin. Their mouths are massive in proportion to their heads encompassing most of it. Their teeth aren't large but they are sharp and plentiful. They are typically not aggressive to humans.

Provide an open aquarium with ample swimming room as these fish are long and fast. Don't provide current, it won't help. Plenty of plants are warranted. Don't attempt to house an Arowana of any kind unless you have a tight fitting lid. These fish jump and they are very good at it.

Feed juveniles are large variety of live and other meaty foods. As they get older the frequency of feeding will decrease but make sure they're getting enough, especially if they have tank mates.

These fish are very sensitive to chemicals in their water so make sure their water is well conditioned. Otherwise their requirements are very few. Neutral to slightly acidic water is best.

These fish are mouthbrooders meaning they raise their young in their mouths. The male is the one who incubates the young. Therefore, distinguishing males is easier because of his wider mouth that's needed for raising the young.
