This is not the
hardiest of the Arowanas and is rarely seen in the hobby. The
body is pink, light brown, or faded red in color. The pectoral
fins are red. The dorsal, anal, and caudal fins will be dark,
usually blue or purple. The scales are large. The head is small
compared to other Arowanas.
As with most Arowanas, this fish should be kept by itself or
with other very large fish. It will take a massive aquarium to
house a full grown adult. Provide lots of plants, rocks, and
driftwood for territory. All smaller fish may become prey. The
water should be clean and clear. Provide excellent filtration
and bi-weekly or weekly water changes. Subdue the light a little
and avoid over stressing.
Feed small Carnivorous foods like insects, insect larvae,
and invertebrates as this fish is a filter feeder.
Sexing is not known.
Little is known about breeding accept that adults will be
a grass nest for their young. |
