About

1996

Misha Kravcev was born in Belgrade, 16th of February 1962, as the descedent of Russian emmigrantes from the Communist`s Revolution.
As a professional painter untill now, he excibited in Stockholm, Wiena, Limassol, Belgrade, and many other places, allways at the leading and most exclusive places for art excibitions.
He had 20 single excibitions, and a lot of commons.
Probabily the most success in his art career till now, were at 1998, that Swedish galleriests invited him and arranged him a great excibition in the center of Stockholm, In the `Aston Gallery`, during the manifestation - `Stockholm, The Capital of Europe,98`.
Also, at 1993, he got award as the best young Yugoslav artist, up to the age of 35, at Loznica.
In his artwork, there is a lot of spirit and ideas from ancient Greece tradition, about those preciouses and true, which connect all the people and all cultures through the centuries, bringing the essence of the life inside us.
Perhaps, because of that, Mirjana Zivkovic, one of the leading Yugoslav newspaper critics from pre Milosevic times, called him `an Arpheas with a paint brush`.

While the dark period of Milosevic`s Serbia, the personality and artwork of Misha Kravcev were `in the corner` from many reasons. And during that period, all leading public broadcasts or newspapers, were allmost closed for him.
One of the results of being `a man out of the system` were 10 years of fighting for saving his flat (and stil he is doing), and 10 years without a chance to buy it, like all other people in his country, not even the chance to get some space for working.
He never was one of the `clan`, one of the folowers of the sistem, of that way of thinking, of that way of behaving in generaly, with all that poltroonism to some `mighty persones`. And from the other side, he was too much authentic, too much free in the spirit and the way of thinking, too much Blue, even and for unless of respecting or understanding his ideas in a such atmosphere.
He was brave to tell the true in the public, keeping his own way of working and thinking, preatty oposit than were accepted all those years.
Even more, while those days of `darknest darkness`, during the war and just after that, he was enoughe brave to tell his opinion in public (for exeample in `Mainichi Shimbun` or `Reporter` from RS when that journal were forbiden in Yugoslavia)
1998, he was invited by the Swedish galleriests to take a part in the `Stockholm, The Capital of Europe 98`, and they arranged him a great excibition in a center of Stockholm, for that cellebration. On Milosevic`s TV news, there wasn`t no one word about that event, and one journalist from `Politika`, alined that excibition with one beginer in a third level gallery in Belgrade, noticing this two events, bothe in a same few sentences, in the corner of the page.
The legendary art critic from `Politika` in pre Milosevic`s time, Mirjana Zivkovic, an editor of cultural page, called him ` an Arpheas with a paint brush`, and she wrotte about him as one of the most authentic art painters today, which was confirmed by many others, later. (He was one of a verry few living artists in Yugoslavia, which excibitions were opening by Mirjana Zivkovic herself).
But also, as a persone `out of the system`, she was first warned that she will be dismissed from her place, soon later she died, and after that, for becoming Milosevic`s editors, space on `Politika` were almost closed for Misha Kravcev, no matter where were his excibitions or other, open only for the obeydients of the `system`.
