Yukishiro Tomoe was Himura Battousai's wife. They were married to lessen the suspicions that Kenshin was Battousai. In the end they learned to love each other. They were married when she was 18 and Kenshin was 15. Tomoe is a typical Japanese woman. She was trained to be a housewife. She has a fiancee named Kiyosato Akira who was later killed by Battousai, which gave Kenshin the scar from his eye to his chin. Tomoe swore vengeance and join a group to kill Battousai. She wants to become close to Battousai to learn his weaknesses. In the end she finally realized that it was really her fault why Kiyosato died. She didn't show what he really truly feel so that's why he left and prove her that he was worthy. She really loved Kenshin that's why she sacrifeced herself to protect him because she can't bear osing his second beloved. When she was slashed by Battousai her tanto flew and hit Kenshin from his eye to his jaw completing his cross scar. Her death left a big scar on Kenshin heart which started his wandering and swore not to kill.
