The story of Himura Kenshin and Kamiya Kaoru started when Kaoru tried to attack Kenshin who was a vagabond then. She accused him of being the Hitokiri Battousai who was trying to destroy her school. Kenshin being himself naturally denied it. Believing him she told her story. Kenshin, understanding the situation helped Kaoru to save her school. It was then revealed that the vagabond, Kenshin was really the Hitokiri Battousai. Kaoru hating to be alone invited the vagabond, Kenshin to stay at her Dojo. Kenshin hesitated but in the end agree telling her that he is tired of travelling.
