The Vision of Escaflowne is a about a 15 yrs old high school student, Hitomi who was transported to Gaea. A place where Earth is their moon, one of its moons actually and where there are kingdoms ruled by kings. This is where she got to know Van, who will change her life. Hitomi and Van both fought to free Gaea from the Zaibach led by Dornkirk.
