The Star

Two thousand years ago, A lone star shone in the night,

Above a humble stable , bathed in royal light,

Revealing a tiny babe, lying in a manger filled with hay,

His blessed mother Mary, had given birth that day.

Her husband stood beside her in complete dismay,

At the wonder of this little babe, that had been foretold,

Was the Christ child everyone awaited to behold.

There was a solemn hush,a devine peace that night,

As the world lay in stillness under that bright cellestial light.

Yonder in the heavens a glory to survey,

Were thousands of angels singing in harmony,

Announcing the heavenly child's birth that day.

To that lowly stable, from home so far away.

Mary looked at the babe with eyes full of love,

Keeping her thoughts, pondering in her heart,

Knowing the future and, the life he'd impart,

To a dying world, a message he'd bring

That He would be saviour, the eternal King.

That star that shone two thousand years ago,

As bright as ever has not lost it's glow,

The eternal light shining bright as the sun,

Brighter now as when it first begun.

Two thousand years waiting for the son,

His Kingdom come, His will be done.
