Perspective Text Shadow

Finished project
Place the text on the image Create a new image and place the text.

Start with a new image, File->New. Make it 400 x 300 pixels, 24 bit and a white background. Click on the Text tool text tool. Set the background color to black and the foreground color to null. Create the text as Vector, I've used 36 point bolded Verdana here.

Text flipped and selected Duplicate the text for the shadow effect.

In the layer control palette, right click on the vector layer and choose Duplicate. Image->Flip. Click on the Object selector tool Object Selector tool. In the layer control palette expand the top vector layer and click on the text sub-layer. The flipped text only should now be selected. Hold down the Shift key and press the down arrow key to move the text so that it is bottom to bottom with no gap between the strings.

Deforming the text Deform the text.

Still using the Object Selector Tool, hold down the Control key and drag the bottom right node to deform the text.

First gaussian blur Make the flipped text look like a shadow.

In the layer control palette, right click on the same vector layer and choose "Convert to Raster Layer". Adjust->Blur->Gaussian Blur. Set the value to 1.5.

Second gaussian blur Make the shadow more realistic.

Click on the Selection Tool Selection Tool. Set the tool options to Rectangle, Replace, Feather=2 and anti-alias checked. Make a selection that covers the bottom third or so of the flipped text. Adjust->Blur->Gaussian Blur, enter a value of 2.

Third gaussian blur Continue with blurs.

Now make a selection that covers the bottom two-thirds of the blurred text and apply another Gaussian Blur of 2.

Fourth gaussian blur Continue with blurs.

Make a third selection that covers all of the blurred text and apply another Gaussian Blur of 2. Adjust the position of the unblurred text if necessary by using the Object Selector Tool.
