BSG REVIVAL NEWS

Battlestar Galactica is returning in 2002, and latest news indicates that Bryan Singer (X-Men / Usual Suspects Director) and Tom DeSanto (X-Men / Apt Pupil Producer/Writer) will reinvent an updated Battlestar Galactica television series for Studios USA. Variety reports Singer and DeSanto have made a deal with Studios USA to executive produce it. The drama will be shepherded by USA senior veep of drama programming Dan Pasternack, with creator Larson also aboard. The Battlestar Fan Club was contacted by Tom DeSanto, the Co-Producer and writer of the new Battlestar Galactica series. Many of you are familiar with his work on Apt Pupil and the recent X-Men movie; he will be working closely with Bryan Singer in creating the new BSG series. He wanted to let our members know that he is a huge BSG fan himself and he intends to do his best to ensure that the new series will exceed everyone's expectations. He is listening to all the feedback and suggestions he has received from fans over the past few weeks and he asks that we continue to do so, not only to him but to the other people involved in the production as well. Once they set up their new production office, he will be providing an address to send feedback and comments going forward. He described the series as being in the early stages of development and that he would let us know more about the direction they intend to go as the project develops.

He received a copy of the Battlestar Fan Club CD-Rom Edition, and he has been reviewing all the information and material contained on it. He also received a Battlestar Fan Club Membership Card and he indicated he would be happy to be listed on the Member List of the Battlestar Fan Club. This contact was an indication of Tom DeSanto's commitment to the fans and their views concerning the new production. It's not only rare; it's almost unheard of for a producer of a new series in development to reach out directly to the fans. We hope that this will continue and that the rest of the team involved in the new series will be listening to what our members have to say.
