My take on ANAVOX shows I have been to.

ON THE WATERFRONT, 2001

Of all the Waterfronts I have been to in my life, I would have to say that 2001 as the best yet. Why? Not just because I've only been to two of OTWs, but because the best area Christian band (in my humble opinion and according to the 2001 RAMI Awards) was there: ANAVOX. I have been a huge fan of AV ever since their first concert at HIS CUP, in First Cov's basement. I have seen them many times since then, including a week in Myrtle Beach. Honestly, I think that On the Waterfront was their best concert I've been to yet.

Even though I have seen them many times, I would honestly have to say that ON THE WATERFRONT 2001 was their best concert yet. They started out a little rough when, vocalist, Michael Corin accidently unplugged his microphone while taking out of the stand. Good thing he didn't have too much to sing at that point. Mike ended that phase with getting the crowd to clap the Devil out of there.

That brings me to the spiritual side of the concert. I don't think I have been to an ANAVOX concert where there were more people praising God than Friday night. It was so amazing. People there had their hands lifted up and were singing, some were dancing like they had gone crazy, especially after Mike gave his normal speech about David dancing like a mad man before the Lord. Even I was dancing by the end of the show, I normally just watch the guys play.

ANAVOX had a great set of music for the night. I don't remember the exact order of the songs, but I do remember the second-to-last one. Arise My Love, which just so happens to be my favorite song, closed for the night. I understand from Rob Petrie that the song was close to not being played. That would have been a tragedy. I guess Mike's guitar was running out of battery power. I'm just so glad ANAVOX finished with that, oh, so appropriate song.

One last thing I really love about ANAVOX's ministry, is their message. "It's not about us; it's about GOD." That is just so true, and how big of them to say that. I don't think that there are many bands out there telling people not to come see them, but to go seek God. They also gave a Gospel message there. I know that there were people who needed to hear it that night.

If you missed ANAVOX at ON THE WATERFRONT this year, I feel for you. It was a great show and had many blessings for those that attended. It was a big concert, but don't take my word for it. Here are some statistics to leave you with: ANAVOX, a local band, attracted about 2,000-3,000 people for their concert; where as EVE 6, a national band, attracted only about 80 people. Go figure.
